anyone heard of this. Supposedly he's just going to be in charge of college stuff as assistant GM. I'm not sure. If he has any so say like in Miami thats a concern.

I just hope that "assistant GM" doesn't become Saints GM in near future.

My initial reaction was that maybe ownership is fed up with the cap situation the last few years and brought Ireland in to make a smooth transition once Loomis effs up beyond repair.

Gawd I hope not.

Ireland left some really good talent in place in Miami...

Have no problem with him having input...

Actually looking forward to the Sean Mickey Ireland gumbeaux...

Ireland can offer some insight that we have been lacking on the defensive side of the ball under coach Payton. Apparently, Ireland really has an eye for defensive talent and the Saints value his opinion.

From what I understand Ireland wasn't a lot better with salary cap in Miami. He was giving out even bigger contracts. 60m for Mike Wallace, are you serious? So salary cap is not his strong suit but it is Mickey's. I wouldn't be too concerned with Loomis "effing up."

Exactly, they answer to Loomis and he is in charge of the cap, Ireland is a better scout than GM. Therefore Mickey will handle the salary cap.

I like the move but lets be careful that there might be to many chefs in the kitchen now when it comes to making final decisions on draft picks.

Ireland did draft Vontae Davis and Sean Smith in the same draft in 2009 for MIA so I am somewhat excited to see what his input does here
