The Saints have an interest in Marcus Mariota, if you believe several reports out there.

The New York Jets seem to be in a win-now mode with their recent signings of 30-year-old plus players like Darrelle Revis, Antonio Cromartie and Brandon Marshall. So the Jets could be in the market for a proven veteran quarterback like say the San Diego Chargers Philip Rivers or the Saints Drew Brees, New York Daily News columnist Gary Myers says.

There has been no credible evidence the Saints are shopping Brees, who recently turned 36. But the remake of the Saints roster, the belief Brees is on the decline and the fact that Brees is about to be due cap unfriendly payments of $18.75 million this year and $19.75 has many speculating the Saints could have to move their quarterback sooner or later.

There is a belief the Saints are interesting in moving up in next month's NFL Draft to take Mariota. They would have to combine their two first round picks (13 and 31) or add in some other assets to move up to where Mariota would go.

As the generally accepted second-best quarterback in this draft class, Mariota will likely go between the No.2 and No.6 overall picks. The Jets own the sixth pick in the first round. But the safest bet to land Mariota, if he is indeed the intended target of the Saints, is No.2 where Tennessee is drafting.

The Jets seem unlikely for that reason and the fact that Rivers, who replaced Brees in San Diego, Rivers is a better gamble because of his age and the potential to stay in New York longer, according to this ESPN.com article by Rich Cimini.

One report about "what if" the Saints were to trade Brees went like wild-fire...

I don't know that I've ever wanted a season to start sooner. I'm so tired of this "Brees is on the block" bs. Its not happening people.

The thought of that and moving up to take a QB in this draft is ridiculous.

If Bree's was on the block then somehow we picked up Aaron Rodgers cause that's the only compensation worthy for losing a HOF

Re: Either Drew Brees or Philip Rivers could be a good trade fit for the New York Jets, New York Daily News says

if he is traded all i can say it better not be for any of the top 2 QB in this draft!

trade pick and trade again stock piling picks for 2016 better be the plan if there is one

Conner Cook is better than either of these two options in 2015.

Winston is not all he is hyped up to be. nah he will not be able to recover from the bone head mistakes he made in college in the NFL. I see JaMarcus Russell and Aaron Brooks all rolled into one here. talent all day long. an attitude that thinks he is gods gift to the world. no matter what his agent gets him do pre draft he is going to screw up off the feild. to arrogant not too.

Mariota? he is not ready. the guy needs two years min just to get use to the pro system at the NFL level and still i have my doubts. he is not a Russell Wilson type coming out of college. he is what Johnny football was hyped up to be. even then i have my doubts at the pro level. 3 to 5 years down the road i may have wished we made the move. but without veteran leadership that knows SP system to help him out? i say pass

Cook? here is the next Andrew Luck

Why even read this? If Drew was a cancer like Farve I could understand. There is a god chance he may fall to us without any trading. If he is there at 13 then fine. But there is no way SP trades up to get someone that will not be ready until 2018
