New Orleans Saints met with Towson cornerback Tye Smith
 

The New Orleans Saints had dinner with Towson cornerback Tye Smith prior to his Pro Day on Wednesday, according to the Baltimore Sun.

It is unclear who exactly Smith met with, as Sean Payton, Rob Ryan and Jeff Ireland were all in Florida for Miami's Pro Day, also held on Wednesday. According to reports, at least one member of the Saints organization was in attendance at Towson on Wednesday.

The Saints also had several in attendance at Florida State's Pro Day on Tuesday.

The 6'0, 195 pound Smith was a surprise invite to the Combine, where he also met with the Saints and Eagles. He is currently projected as a late rounder or undrafted rookie free agent.

The Baltimore Sun also reported that Smith met with Ryan, Payton and Mickey Loomis at the Combine.

"It was a good meeting," Smith told the paper. "They had me going over plays. They drew stuff up on the board and showed me film and asked me how I would respond in their defense."

Smith has 312 career tackles, six interceptions and 25 pass breakups. Against LSU in 2012, he had a career high 10 tackles, two sacks and a forced fumble.

However, his frame has pushed him down many draft boards.

Concerned somewhat. If we keep bringing in CB's coach does not have much faith in the DL. We have to have pressure, without that no CB is good enough.

The first thing Payton did when he came here was start rolling in the corners. He has done it consistently and I don't expect him to change. He knows where the weaknesses on defense are and he's trying to solidify his defense.

thanks for saying what I were about to scream. leave them major high school boys alone, we been burnt more than succeeded in small schools. unless non draft pick okay,
