As we wade into our massive pool of College Football Focus data, we値l be sharing with you some of the highlights from our Signature Stats in position-by-position looks.

So, over these couple weeks you can expect daily dives into the best and worst that the full FBS schedule produced in all of the same categories you致e come to know from our NFL coverage.

On the defensive side we致e already shared looks at the edge defenders, defensive interior, linebackers and cornerbacks, so that means the safeties are up next and we値l have a pair of posts splitting out their numbers.

A tough group to get a handle on as the nature of the position lends itself to many buckets for players to fit into, but they値l all be treated as a single safety group here. In this first Sig Stat look at the safeties, we値l focus on the leaders in run stops and tackling among this season痴 draft-eligible class:

Run Stop Percentage

(min 100 snaps of run defense)

Run Stop Percentage, lined up within 8 yards

Tackling Efficiency vs. the Run

Tackling Efficiency Overall

Re: Safeties

ok start the safety jokes now?

I am all for it truthfully as long as you trade from depth a player with the pick.

still say 80% of our safeties are SS with average hands at best. tackling skills after last year showing should make everyone of them nervous about finding a new home.

Much like WR I have the media over hyping our talent at safety big time.

Pick and trade if this is were we go. just do not keep adding to the group to only cut them down the road.

there are more than a few options on the list/ Amos and Perkins just to name two. both are probably over rated right now.

I'd agree, but also note that a couple of them are really just special teamers with Safety attached to their names.

Byrd - FS
Vaccaro - SS
Bush - FS or SS
Warren - FS
Phillips - FS

Sunserie - FS or SS
Sanford - FS or SS
Ball - SS

Re: Safeties

I'm actually thinking that we have the depth to trade one of the safeties on draft day. Bush is the only one with value though besides Byrd.
