ESPN analyst Jon Gruden usually has good insight on the New Orleans Saints since he's close with coach Sean Payton and comes from a similar offensive background. Here was Gruden's take when asked Wednesday if he thinks the Saints can get a good pass-rusher with the 13th pick in the draft or should consider trading up for someone like Florida's Dante Fowler Jr.

"I love Fowler. In my book, he's the top defensive player in this draft," Gruden said. "I do know the Saints have two first-round draft picks, they have a number of picks in the top 75. So if they sit where they are I think they're gonna be able to acquire five pretty good players. I like Bud Dupree from Kentucky. I like Shane Ray from Missouri a lot. I think there's gonna be a pass-rusher potentially there for them at No. 13.

"But you never know with Mickey Loomis and Sean Payton. They've proven they will go up. They went up last year to get Brandin Cooks, they moved up to get [Mark] Ingram. If there's something they want, they have no fear in going up to get it. So that'll be fun to watch."

Gruden was right about the Saints history. The Saints have traded up in Round 1 five times during Loomis' 12 drafts as general manager.

Gruden was not asked about whether the Saints could or should target a future replacement for quarterback Drew Brees in this year's draft class. But if he was, I'm guessing he might have mentioned the name Garrett Grayson.

Gruden raved about the Colorado State quarterback after working with him recently and said he's worthy of a second-round pick -- as told to ESPN's Mike Sando in this piece which requires Insider access
