From the Mobile Register:

Quote:

"I like him," Gruden said. "All he does is complete passes. He has great physical tools. He has a big arm and his mobility is better than we thought. He's an accurate passer with touch and he's a big guy. I think he's going to be able to withstand the grind. He's a real bright prospect."
Also, about Cadillac Williams
Quote:

In describing Auburn's Williams at a press conference Tuesday, Gruden, the Tampa Bay Bucs head coach who is serving as head coach of the South team, called Williams "a national champion." That's music to the ears of Auburn fans in the area.

Gruden also said he liked Williams' nickname, Cadillac. "It sounds fast," he said. "He's going to be a heck of a pro football player. ... he can return punts and kickoffs, he's comfortable in any formation and he wants to be great."

There are other tidbits about Senior Bowl players in the article. For those of you (like me) who aren't ESPN insiders, this sight normally has Senior Bowl articles everyday.

I don\'t know about Gruden but when I hear the name Cadillac I do not think of speed. Maybe it\'s just me.

Now, if his name were corvette or something, I could understand.

I wouldn\'t have a problem with that, as long as 1 and 2 are LB/OT.
I don\'t think he\'ll be NFL ready for a year or two, but he\'s an exciting prospect.

That\'s why I said 3rd Danno. Even better if we somehow manage to get an extra second or 3rd out of someone for Darren Howard. Then we can go LB/OT/SS or CB then Campbell in the draft if he is still there. Even better.

Bleh so I\'m wrong, it looks more like he\'ll be a second rounder now. I was only off by two rounds *winks at saintswhoadi* haha! Like I said before pre-draft workouts can do wonders, and it\'s certainly doing it for him. But Kiper and others may like him a lot but they\'ve stated that he is a \"one year wonder\" and must be evaluated very carefully. Hey but so far so good.

Again ..I have to agree..the little bit of the practices that I watched showed him tripping over his own feet, and making some questionable decisions...

Doesn\'t matter he\'s slotted above the 3rd round now anyways... obviously he\'s doing something right. A lot of mocks have him going before both Orton, Walters, and Orlovsky... His decision making can\'t be that bad then.

Really..Until the Combine is done and over....no rankings are going to give an accurate placement forecast of where these guys may go..and in what round..

It\'s okay to be in denial. I was there too until I saw the light.

What in the %&*^ are you talking about?

The combine is ..in reality..what the coaches look at...I have seen several players rise and fall several rounds, after the combine.

Nothing is etched in stone quite yet..and..chances are..if he could be really great...and possibly be obtained by this team..they will avoid him like the Bubonic plague

A dark past is an effective foresight

papz, I brought you to the light. Congrats. Now let\'s hope the combine doesn\'t dim our bulb. :)

nfl insider tonight interviewed gruden again today. when asked which are the top of what he has seen this week he went on quite a bit about cadillac (pass catching, picking up blitzes, etc). he also specifically mentioned campbell, david greene, marcus spears, and gibson the GA receiver too. it was noted how many coaches who do that game end up drafting many of them cuz of how much deeper insight they get.

papz in all honesty i dont think where someone is slotted determines their ability. look at bockwoldt. and then look at half a bunch of other guys who didnt do anything like leaf and what not. so that argument doesnt do anything for me. but thats just me

Well remember I said he could rise or fall during the workouts. I\'m personally not THAT sold on him being drafted that high, but the scouts and coaches like him a lot. For the millionth time, if he gets drafted high, good for him. He will have worked his arse off in pre-draft workouts and the combine. So far so good and the light is looking bright.
I\'m not fully there yet though saintswhoadi, but I\'m getting closer!

Why would we look at him if we don\'t have a need at quarterback... he\'s slotted as a high rounder and we dont need to waste a high pick on him.

I never said where someone is slotted determines their ability. You should check out other threads where I praise lower round draft picks. I\'m a big Bockwoldt fan and believe it or not, I thought he performed the best during preseason. He started off on SPECIAL TEAMS *cough* and when injuries amounted, he got his chance to shine. Too bad it wasn\'t until the end of the season.

For that matter, is Haslett even attending the Senior Bowl? It\'s not like he\'s got the playoffs to worry about or anything!

I haven\'t heard if anyone from the Saints organization is there, but the media only seems interested in interviewing Gruden and Tice, so who knows...

As for Campbell, I\'m still leary. His excellent senior season wasn\'t quite enough to erase my memory of his three previous inconsistent ones. He\'s posted some nice stats, but (as with AB) the stats ain\'t everything. Not to be harsh, but I think he might make a nice career backup. I dunno if I can picture him as an NFL starter.

As before, I wouldn\'t complain if we picked him up at round 4 or later. Don\'t wanna reach any higher than that.

I like cambell as a person and hope he does well..but I woulnd\'t waste a pick on him. After seeing him four years at auburn..if you can get him for a lower pick he will be a good insurance policy..but otherwise wait till he becomes a free agent because it\'s gonna be a few years before he does anything-if then.
