Rohan davey will be the best qb available in free agency this year he knows how to win and needs to come to the saints or my new favorite team other than the saints the dolphins.

He would beat out brooks by the end of training camp

saintswhodi 01-26-2005 03:19 PM

Rohan is a free agent? SIGN HIM UP!!! Let him compete. If he is good enough to be a backup for Brady, why couldn\'t he start for us?

ScottyRo 01-26-2005 03:43 PM

Oh yeah, he looked sooooo great at LSU that there\'s no way he could fail as an NFL QB. Give me a break with this local-player-hero-worhsip.

saintswhodi 01-26-2005 03:45 PM

Best qb in NFL Europe and if Brady got hurt he would be starting cause he is the number two. Let\'s get over this NOONE can replace Leon crap.

ScottyRo 01-26-2005 03:49 PM

rohan davey

I don\'t have a NOONE can replace Leaon attitude.

The sum of my posts will CLEARLY indicate that.

saintswhodi 01-26-2005 03:59 PM

You truly are fooling me. What\'s wrong with Davey being brought in to compete may I ask? Cause he played for LSU he is garbage or something? What about Marcus Spears or Corey Webster or Ben Wilkerson? Should we ignore them too? What is the reason for your obvious poo-pooing of this idea?

ScottyRo 01-26-2005 04:24 PM

rohan davey

I\'m not poo-pooing the idea. I\'m poo-pooing all the hype about it. It is perfectly clear that we need to bring someone in to compete with AB if he\'s still here this coming training camp. My problem is that in the 2+ years I\'ve been coming to this forum, I\'ve gained pretty good insight on how local boys are so easily overvalued.

This is clearly a Michigan fan. I think we should sign Rohan trade for Josh Reed. Then next year we start Davey @ qb with Reed & Henderson @ wr. Oh yeah I think we signed Howard Green (LSU) as a street FA who beat out 1st round pick J. Sullivan....not to shabby also look at LSU north aka New England Patriots...nuff said!

saintswhodi 01-26-2005 04:34 PM

I see what you are saying Scotty but hasn\'t Davey shown he is effective if he dominates NFL Europe, like Delhomme, and is the number 2 qb for Superbowl champ New England? Now I can see who someone who rallies behind every player of LA descent as a god can be annoying, but Davey can play. Delhomme showed he can as well. What other local boys have been put on a pedestal?

ScottyRo 01-26-2005 04:50 PM

rohan davey

Quit telling secrets, 78. ;) And your point is that Howard green was only good enough to beat out the biggest bust in Saints history? Are you sure you want to make that point?

Ok, the NFL Europe thing. There are going to be some players that burn NFLE up and come to the nfl and be good players here too. However, not every QB that burns up NFLE is going to make it in the NFL...didn\'t o\'sullivan do that too?

78 is a good friend of mine, but look at his post. I\'m praying that he is joking about this when he thinks having Davey, Reed and Henderson together will be some great thing.

Who\'s on the pedastel? Any LSU or otherwise local player that shows even a hint of being NFL capable. They are always overvalued. But, hey, some of them end up being worth it.

papz 01-26-2005 05:15 PM

I honestly think our LSU guys are UNDERVALUED... here are some examples...

Todd McClure starting for Falcons line.

Randall Gay starting for Patriots.

Alan Faneca starts for Steelers.

Chad Lavalais starts for Atlanta.

Rohan Davey backs up Brady.

Kenny Mixon starts for Minnesota.

Bradie James starts for Dallas.

Tory James starts for Cincy.

Michael Clayton starts for Bucs.

Dominick Davis starts for the Texans.

Jarvis Green, Kevin Faulk... etc...

Man I can go on and on... yet we didn\'t pay any attention to these guys when we were drafting. Some of these guys went undrafted and in the latter tier of the draft. Some has been to the ProBowl and others obviously also have the talent. In my opinion we ignore the locals Scotty and lots of those players could have filled big voids in our team.

I am a Lsu fan and i agree with u. I think he would do a good job backin up Ab, so I say sign him. Watched him in NFL Europe and i didn\'t see anything that showed me he could start in the NFL!

Yea i know people will say he tore it up and he did, but i did not see and NFL starter type...with J T I saw that

Correct me if I am wrong but I beleive that JT OSullivan is a Free Agent also? Scotty ya had to know I was joking about Reed & Davey but I would rather have Davey as a back up than Bauman. I still think when Haslett approved the trade he saw J. OSullivan for M. Mckenzie & he got so happy he thought he was trading Johnathan Sullivan he missed the O in the name, eiter way I am glad we got MM.

Nice list papz. And like 78 said, look at LSU North(the Pats). There are more LSU players on the Pats than any college has on any other team. I don\'t think anyone overvalues anyone else. If they are good enough for Belichek, they are good enough for me.

spkb25 01-26-2005 06:18 PM

im not all that familiar with the guy to be honest. but if he can play give him a shot. cant be worse then bouman. but let him compete. nothing wrong with that. i think arron needs to be looking over his shoulder to play his best. but ill say this the patriots made the super bowl without tye law. i dont think he has a shot of being there next year. if they can plug in anyone for him and still win well then that to me says something. in all honesty watching new england, outside of brady im not sure who else would succeed anywhere else. they always seem to win no matter who they have. its amazing they are more then likely about to win their third super bowl and i cant name half their players. that is truly amazing

If the Fins\' can afford him (Davey), he will be a Dolphin next year. Saban needs someone who can run his offense.

I, for one, don\'t care what college some player attended!!

But, if you want to get players that have done well in the NFL... Go get \'em out of Flordia. LSU has nothing on the Flordia teams.

Flordia, Miami, and Flordia St. have made LSU their whipping boys for years.

As far as Davey? Lets get him. He\'d be a risk, but so would just about every other QB.

Is my memory treacherous here or could he not even start at LSU?

Let\'s see how wrong we are.

Quote:

Davey was the only quarterback in LSU history to throw for over 3,000 yards in a season (3,347; 2001) … He is also the only passer in LSU annals to throw for over 300 yards in three consecutive games … He ranks fifth in school history with 29 touchdown passes and sixth with 4,415 yards passing despite starting in only 12 games … Completed 286 of 478 passes (59.8 percent), both ranking seventh on LSU’s all-time record list. 2001 (Senior): All-Southeastern Conference second-team selection by the league’s coaches and the Associated Press … Started every game and guided Louisiana State to its first outright conference title since 1986 … Completed a school single-season record 217 of 367 passes (59.1 percent) for 3,347 yards and 18 touchdowns … Davey set two school records with 528 yards passing and 35 completions in the Tigers 35-21 victory over Alabama … His 528 yards was only the fourth 500 yard passing performance in SEC history … His 540 yards of total offense tied the SEC game-record, first set by Mississippi’s Archie Manning vs. Alabama in 1969 … Earned Sugar Bowl MVP honors as he closed out his career by hitting on 31 of 53 passes for 444 yards and three touchdowns in 47-34 victory over Illinois. 2000 (Junior): Selected as one of three captains and was the recipient of the team’s Most Inspirational Award … Played in four games, including starts against Tennessee and Florida and completed 38 of 59 passes (64.4 percent) for 577 yards, seven touchdowns and only one interception … Added 49 yards rushing on eight carries (6.1 avg.) … 1999 (Sophomore): Served as the Tigers backup quarterback, playing in seven games, including two starts … 1998 (Redshirt): Played in two games, versus Arkansas State and Idaho but recorded no statistics. 1997 (Freshman): Redshirted as a freshman.

Any more questions? Some people will second anything.

i know he had a great preseason according to the scouts. since they held brady out the whole preseason...

Saints whodi Love the stats. Even if people don\'t like him because he is from LSU than put in perspective that he has been with charlie weis and that mistake free offense.
Oh and for everybody who doesn\'t know anything about rohan everywhere he goes there a winner.

If you watched the bowl game against georgia tech a few years back when they benched josh booty in the second half that is when rohan davey showed me how good he is and LSU came back and won the game because how he took over the game.

The NCAA and NFL Europe ain\'t the big time, kids. And Rohan Davey ain\'t a big time QB.

If you want stats, here\'s how he shined in the 2004 preseason:

31/64 for 260 yds, 2 TD, 3 INT, sacked 5 times (for -35 yds), 50.3 passer rating.

Not so hot when you consider:

Matt Schaub
54/86 for 655 yds, 6 TD, 2 INT, sacked 6 times (for -44 yds), 99.7 passer rating.

Or even ... Todd Collins
38/49 for 484 yds, 3 TD, 0 INT, sacked 5 times (for -33 yds), 128.2 passer rating.

All were facing less-than-spectacular backup defenses. If Davey can\'t do any better than that against backups, I\'m not interested.

Hey, let\'s sign Todd Collins!!! :P

Has anyone heard from Bobby Hebert lately? We need da cajun cannon back...... Do you remember all the Greif Bobby got from us fans? Wouldn\'t you love having Bobby around again to complain about...... at least You knew he wanted to win whether he did or not well......... :)

Hey guys there is another Qb out there that may be traded... Rumors abound that Philip Rivers may be offered up... with the new found love for Brees, and the amount they will both be making.. Here is a thought Bring Rivers in here to Compete with Brooks, or Hell Trade Brooks for a Pick or another cb, ss, or fs.. This is just a thought, but, Rivers might be medium high to really high Priced depending on how much intrest he draws.

spkb25 01-28-2005 10:44 AM

rohan davey

i think san diego is going to keep both

ScottyRo 01-28-2005 10:49 AM

rohan davey

Although it\'d be perfect for the saints if they would consider getting rid of Breeze, I don\'t think it\'ll happen either...not this year. The smart GM would hang onto Breeze another season, see how he does next year, and then make a decision on who to keep. The added benefit would be that Rivers would get another season to watch - a luxuary in today\'s game.

The downside is that SD may lose higher compensation if Breeze doesn\'t play as well in \'05 as he did in \'04. But I say that compensation isn\'t nearly as important as making the right decision on your QB since the wrong decision can hurt you for years. Just ask SD if that isn\'t true.
