So it begins

ESPN - the worldwide leader in shoddy sports journalism - is floating the idea Brees' days are numbered.

NFL Football Teams, Scores, Stats, News, Standings, Rumors - National Football League - ESPN

I'd look deeper if:

a) I took it seriously
2) Was silly enough to pay for their "premium" content

Sure, I'm curious what Brees thinks about it all, but his job is safe for a while barring injury.

That's because you got it backwards. And then you woke up....

Sleep well, friend.

Sorry man, Kate's over at my house. But I'll send her your way - just as soon as Goodell exonerates Sean for Bounty-gate.

He's not even the oldest of the elite bunch. Whatever. Brees is younger than Brady and Payton Manning. EAD as we use to say in the Army.

His day's are kinda numbered. Two more years with us and then he moves on and lives out the twilight years elsewhere like Manning and Favre.

Re: So it begins

Brees has 2 more years here for sure. Possibly 3 if the o-line holds up. That will give him roughly 68-70k yards passing!

I don't mind this stuff really. At face value we have an aging superstar QB and we likely all agree we drafted his eventual replacement. So they write about it and try and create interest. It's what they do. No big deal at least to me.

What the hell? Why is it always Drew's days are numbered what about cheater Brady's days? Yes he has 4 super bowl wins but he can't play forever.

They were saying that stuff about Brady early last season because they were sucking and the Patriots had just drafted a QB. Of course they went on to win a Super Bowl but the criticism was there.

We're in the Brees contract for two (2) more years...

That'll be right and then the new kid can be ready...

And then Mickey can get bulldog into another contract where we're unable to sign anyone to put around him...

LOL

Bree's couldn't care less. He's happy to have the competition and knows he can't play forever. Drafting a third round QB should tell him the organization wants him around for a while. The Pats have drafted 2 first round QBs while Brady had been there.

Funny, I thought Peyton Manning was the greatest QB that ever stepped on the field!
No one else can shout Omaha! like he can plus perform a magic act at the line of scrimmage before each play.

"Red Omaha! Pick a card memorize it put it back in the deck Hut Hut!"

I've said it before and I'll stick to my guns.
The Saints need to be developing the 'heir apparent' NOW! Montana had Young in the right seat for a good while before he took the wheel. Favre had Rodgers.

If we don't want several iterations of the revolving door, the team needs to work the issue and not let it all ride on 'two more years' from Drew. I still have nightmares of the QB circus and refuse to believe we could go back to the carousel of: Brooks, Tolliver, Hobert, Delhomme, Wuerffel, Collins, Shuler... No identity forever on Offense. If Brees goes down (and odds are he very well can) what are we left with?

Young only sat because Montana was the greatest QB of his era and still playing at peak level. Young didn't have to sit. That was also 30 years ago.

Same with Rodgers. The only reason he didn't start year 2 was because Favre kept not-retiring.

I can't think of a single great QB today that sat for 3 or 4 years behind anyone.

Remember the ESPN Tim Tebow craze?
Remember the RGIII craze?
Remember when Mike Vick joined the Jets and some at ESPN were predicting Superbowl for the Jets?

That's about as credible as ESPN is.
They would kick their grandmother for not making as many cookies because she's 90 years old! It's not news, it's a show, and a bad one at that.
