New Orleans Saints sign kicker Zach Hocker after minicamp, according to source

The New Orleans Saints have added a third kicker to their roster, signing Zach Hocker after this weekend's minicamp, according to a league source.
Hocker, who was waived by the Miami Dolphins earlier this month, has tried out for the Saints at least twice before, most recently last December.
The Saints already have two kickers on the roster in Shayne Graham and Dustin Hopkins.
After signing offensive lineman Antonio Johnson on Sunday, the Saints made corresponding roster move to create room for Hocker on the 90-man roster, waiving linebacker Stephon Sanders.

There is competition at every spot except starting QB and possibly #1 CB.

I'm kinda rooting for Dustin Hopkins. Graham's been good but I'd like to get back to actually attempting 50 yard FG's instead of punting. Oh, and I don't know anything about Hocker... So if he's good enough then he'd be ok with me too.

They can all kick.

Question is, can they kick in an NFL stadium of 65,000 fans every Sunday?!?

And can they do it in the playoffs?!?

With 3 kickers in camp I hope this means the end for Shane Graham. He just can not kick the long ones anymore.

Nice to see that old OCD, attention-deficit disorder, what-have-you-done-for-me-lately streak in Payton's personality coming to the foreground again. Competition at every position -- it feels very 2006. Throw 'em against the wall, see who sticks -- one of these kickers could turn out to be a real gem.
