The River City relay ,as it is known as now...was a frreak accident..how the hell do you miss an extra point that would send your team to the playoffs?

Truth is..you shouldn\'t have to rely on your kicker to get you into the playoffs..but..He\'s going to be taking heat for that miss for the rest of his life...

True because DEFENSE wins championships...

But just remember Baltimore when they won it, solid defense and a kicker who kicked like 5 field goals a game. :exclam: Too bad we have neither.

i was hoping to see carney replaced at the beginning of this year, he\'s too old

i honestly believe that he will cost at least two games next year if we don\'t find someone else

problem is kickers are in short supply, SF has been looking for like 5 years, SD\'s rookie blew it for them, NYJ might be looking after their K cost them an AFC champ berth, KC will be looking to replace anderson who no longer has any kind distance, TB and lot of other teams need K\'s too

i don\'t like the idea of drafting one to start this year but when need to do something

And he should take the heat for the rest of his life. My thing is, the extra point is a mandatory make for a kicker - he has no business even coming close to missing. On the other side, a field goal, especially at the end of a game to win or tie, is just a consequence of an offense\'s failure and the kicker shouldn\'t be entirely to blame for the loss if he misses. Even so, it is his job to make field goals so a kicker would deserve a little grief for missing any field goal except the abnormally long ones.

Hope to see him one more year, after that we really will have to find a new kicker, I don\'t think that we can afford to draft a kicker this season in any round though,

at some point we have to replace him. how long do we wait. the guy has beeen pretty clutch minus some mistakes but for the most part he has been clutch. but at some point we have to replace him. how long do we wait. where do we go. looking at you guys ideas
The time is now...we do not need to get into a big game next year and the same thing happens to us that happened to the Jets. Yes Carney is better than O\'Choker i mean O\'Brien, but the time is now. Nugent will be gone in the second and we do not need to draft a kicker that high. Maybe the Ole miss kid Nichols in the 4th or 5th. Possibly Martin Gramatica?

I would not be opposed to seeing Nichols in Saint uniform. Of course, I am a big Ole Miss fan, so I may be a little biased, but the kid did have a good career there. The only thing that would worry me about him is whether he can kick under pressure. I can\'t help but remember the two kicks he missed two years ago against LSU that kept Ole Miss out of the SEC championship game, and allowed LSU to go on to the national championship game. I think he definitely would deserve a chance somewhere, at least in preseason, and then see how it goes from there. He has a strong leg. Gramatica, however, I could live without. I know this sounds kinda dumb, but, it was hard enough having to look at his mug two times a year...having to see it every game might be a bit unbearable.

Whether you think you can or think you can't...you're right!

Hey Guys What about Morten Anderson???? Man was that a huge sains Blunder... He could still be the mainstay here..... But you could say he is done cause of his age, loosing a step... Blah Blah, isn\'t that what the saints said nearly a decade ago....... LOL

:killtard:

But,...... I digress I think keep carney bring in some soccer kicker, and train him, or trade for a decent replacement NEXT year if carney isn\'t getting the Job done......

That\'s what you get when you let kuhurich run things. I still laugh everytime his name is mentioned for a GM or high-ranking team position. Doesn\'t taking a well built Jim Finks team and turning them into a pathetic bunch of diddly pooh in 2 -3 years indicate this fellow aint worth his salt?
