The 3 Reasons Why the Saints Will SHOCK the NFL in 2015

An old washed-up quarterback. A head coach that has “lost” his team. A team that that doesn’t have any weapons on offense. Those are just a few of the misinformed perceptions that are floating around out there at the moment about your New Orleans Saints.

Now, while I get that most of you don’t give a flying-flip about what anybody else thinks about your favorite football team, those comments are generally considered as the gospel truth by fans from other fan bases.

The problem is that a majority of these comments come from individuals sitting behind a desk some thousands of miles away from NOLA in most cases; individuals who that in all honesty have about as much knowledge of the Saints as I do about how to knit a Christmas sweater.

They may as well just be giving an opinion on Global Warming or recent trends at the New York Stock Exchange, because they’d probably be much closer to getting that right, before they could claim that they have the pulse of this football team; especially as well as those in the local New Orleans sports media who cover the team on a daily basis.

People like the Saints “beat writers”: Mike Triplett of ESPN (the only person there who knows the Saints inside and out), Nick Underhill and Joel A. Erickson of the New Orleans Advocate, and Katherine Terrell and Evan Woodberry of NOLA.com / The Times Picayune.

On the radio, there are people like WWL 870 AM New Orleans’ Mike Detillier, Steve Geller, T-Bob Hebert, Kristian Garic, Bobby Hebert, and Deke Bellevia, ESPN New Orleans 100.3 FM’s Scott Alexander, and 106.1 WMTI FM The Ticket’s Gus Kattengell and Bryan Bienemy.

On television, there’s WWL Channel 4’s Lyons Yellin, WDSU Channel 6’s Fletcher Mackel, Fox 8’s Sean Fazende, and ABC 26’s Ed Daniels.

And of course, you can always read the daily coverage provided by the FanSided Network — which was just recently purchased by media conglomerate Time, Inc. and will now have an expanded role for the wonderful folks at Sports Illustrated.

Those people include myself and Gene Higginbotham at Big Easy Believer, and John J. Hendrix and Andrew Schuster at Who Dat Dish; and all of us are glad to be among the collection of folks that I’ve just mentioned, that cover the Saints exclusively on a daily basis.

My point?

The folks in the national media and other entities that cover the Saints ‘every so often’ from afar, THINK they know this team; but the honest truth is that they don’t even have the slightest idea about what’s really happening, or what the mindset and ‘personality’ if you will, of this team really is.

They have been predicting doom and gloom for this football team since last season ended, but apparently have overlooked the bevy of moves made in the off-season to correct the weaknesses that plagued them in 2014, as well as a returning and refocused group of veteran players, along with a revitalized coaching staff.

There are several other factors that will come into play which I think will allow the Saints to completely surprise all of them, and the rest of the professional football world beginning in September.

Specifically, there are 3 “reasons” that will be so; and so if you have a few seconds, let’s take a quick look at what those are; as I present to you The 3 Reasons Why the Saints Will Shock the NFL in 2015…..

Great article.

The offseason has been looks great and was nothing of what anybody thought. Still, we have as good of chance of going 6-10 as well as 10-6.
Right now all teams fans are allowed to have rose colored glasses.

And ONE reason I won't attempt to read another article from the Fansided website ever again...

See how long it takes you to find Sean Payton

I was a very frustrating read, especially on my phone.

Its like WWL Sports... 80% commercials, news, traffic and weather and 20% Sports.

And of that 20% Sports, 1/3 is telling you what they're gonna talk about and what their line-up is, and the other 2/3 is Saints information and analysis.

Throw in Bobby's 3 minute questions and you have about 6 minutes of actual Saints coverage per hour.

That's the industry now, right? Print down, revenue down. Need to find ways to make money and targeted digital "click bait" are an easy way.

The same could be said for our beat writers. They dont know squat about other teams like their own beat writers do. It is pre season and every team out there thinks they have a legit shot.

Im ready to see our guys proved right.
