Saints aren't going anywhere regardless of which Benson owns team
 

By this time next week we should know the outcome of Tom Benson's competency trial.

It'd be a surprise if the New Orleans Saints/Pelicans owner isn't deemed to be in possession of his marbles, at least enough of them to make sound decisions on his personal and business matters.

Regardless, Judge Kern Reese's ruling will be the first legal domino to fall in the legal standoff between the New Orleans Saints/Pelicans owner and his estranged heirs.

The high-powered legal teams representing both sides have been confident in their cases all along. Little in the two weeks of emotional testimony appears to have curbed their optimism.

Once the request for interdiction is settled, the sides will move their briefcases to Texas, where a battle over Benson's estate will ensue.

Even if the courts decide that Mr. Benson is nuttier than a wooden watch, I believe the State of Louisiana would step in if Benson's heirs tried to move the team.

The Saints generate a ton of money for the state. They have an extremely loyal following and the Dome is sold out while people wait for their turn to get season tickets. The Saints aren't going anywhere. This Is New Orleans!!! :bng:

As for the here and now, until Benson dies, the Saints are in New Orleans.
After he dies, who knows. Mrs. Gayle Benson's heirs are her brother and I guess she has nieces/nephews. Mrs. Gayle Benson and whoever else who has some ownership will make those decisions when the day gets here. That day is , for the here and now, a good long time away. I assume, lets say, a good 10 -15 years away.

Good point, yes, the State of LA , needs the Saints and Pelicans. they also that good contracts supporting the team for the team's benefit too.
Tom Benson got all he wanted except for building a new stadium.

He seems to be happy all these years with the state's financial deals to him. Some of forgot , it was Rita and Tagliabue and others instrumental in getting Benson to not move, etc. 2004 or so and to 2005 or so, Benson wanted this , that and the other or move A new stadium? Where, how can N.O. support a SuperSuperdome and other edge of the Quarters by the projects? Another huge stadium. It was crazy.


Benson has no heirs.
He has distanced himself, disinherited and basically disowned The Three R's and the other granddaughter , Dawn and her husband, were never in the running although she has tried to publically, as well of course, butter up to her grandfather and Mrs. Gayle Benson.
No doubt this girl, Dawn, will have a trust. The Three R's will , I assume, have a trust left for them just out of the goodness of his heart and to make sure they do not challenge his will. When the King speaks, even from the grave....

Then again, Benson might leave in his will the ole and very legal, $1.00 , to each of The Three R's.

I do not think that other stuff about the Benson irrevocable trust will fly. Maybe Benson will have to give The Three R's a settlement now, but no where near like the value of the teams or whatever started this case.

Give them a few million each and disown them .

Rita overplayed her hand. Greedy. Pushy. Same for her mother and brother. Impatient. It was ALL hers for the taking in due time.

Benson has an heir and her name is Mrs. Tom (Gaye) Benson.
Logically speaking, he will die before she does as she is 20 -25 years younger.

The Benson competency trial, hearing, whatever it was called was really shameful. The Three R's , to bring it to that point was beyond low. Of course, publically fussing and/or grabbing/pushing at Gayle Benson, The Mrs., was also low. Crazy.

Opps, I did not read that next the case moves to Texas.
This is hurrying up Benson's death.
I think so. This is different kind of stress for him. This is not like his usual business stress. All this is doing is making it faster for Mrs. Galye and her cronies to be in control of it all. The Three R's are just dumb.
They lost.
