Former Saints head coach Jim Haslett gets a job at Penn State

FWIW

Since being replaced as Washington’s defensive coordinator this offseason, we haven’t heard much from Jim Haslett.

Today, he’s surfaced.

According to Brett McMurphy of ESPN.com, Haslett has taken a job as a consultant at Penn State.

It gets him back to his home state, as he was born in Pittsburgh and attended Indiana University, the one in Pennsylvania not the one that used to have a basketball team.

Haslett had been with Washington for five seasons before they “mutually agreed” to part ways this offseason.

Great News!

Hopefully he'll help the suckage continue at Penn State!

If Penn St is smart, they'll have a morals clause in the contract to limit their exposure should the coach dally with the young ladies...

Technically it was only 2 losing seasons: 2001 at 7-9, and the 2005 Katrina season.

The 8-8 seasons, while nothing to brag about, are technically not "losing" seasons....and one of them should have resulted in a playoff berth (2004).

I think that was what frustrated fans the most about the Haslett/Brooks era. Taking away the 2000 playoff run and the 2005 Katrina season, their record was a perfect average of 8-8 between 2001 and 2004. Many fans (myself included) kept thinking eventually they'd get over that hump. In hindsight though, the "you are what your record says you are" slogan definitely summed up that era.

I feel like if Haslett had played Delhomme when AB was injured the Saints would have helped the Saints get over that hump!
