New Orleans has always felt like home to Dennis Allen.

After getting his start in Atlanta, he left the Saints after five seasons as an assistant to become defensive coordinator of the Denver Broncos and then head coach of the Oakland Raiders. Through it all, a piece of his heart remained in New Orleans.

“I’ve always said that I started out in the National Football League in Atlanta, but I really grew up here in New Orleans — and I really feel that way,” Allen said. “I’m excited to be back.”

Not half as excited as we are Dennis. Welcome home.

Found this interesting:

In other words, Ryan whips together the compositions, and Allen simplifies things and teaches the players how to do it.
Ryan = X's & O's
Allen = true defensive coordinator

I wouldn't care which one of the 2 do what as long as that thing we had as a D last year improves. If not fire the entire D staff and get in some that can. I want no less than 16th D rankings this season. All D draft= no more excuses.

Probably there's also wanted redundancy there...

If the D stinks again, RR gets the boot and DA steps in.

Sounds like Payton doesn't want RR to relax either just like the article talked about the players.

simplifying the playbook should correct much of the mistakes.

Game time adjustments and closing out a game will be the real test to whether or not Rob stays around. neither are his strong suit.

The Saints organization had fewer coaches than half of the other NFL teams.

I don't see anything wrong with adding another talented defensive mind to the team.

How can rob create a scheme thats can be so complicated like did he go to harvard or yale? Gees dennis allen probably from UPI. University of pecan island.meaning he could undam a beaver hole and create electricity.

I am so glad he's here to simplify the defensive scheme. I would offer to help him unpack....... but, it's probably too late for that now. If Ryan sucks then I'll offer to help him pack. :bng:
