For the gabillionth time, the South did not fight the civil war for SLAVERY. During the civil war, the North had SLAVES too. (I will not argue this point with anyone. Do some REAL research, other than movies)

The Klan has bastardized the Stars and Bars. They turned it into a symbol of hate.

I had family that faught for the South and the North. I pisses me off to see the KKK using a flag that my family faught under. It degrades what they did. It cheapen's what my family did when a picture of Hank Williams Jr or a 12 point buck or a large mouth bass is put on that flag.

Do I own a "Confederate" flag? No, I don't. But I should the right to own one and fly it if I want too.

I say instead of banning it; why not take ownership in it? Take it back from the KKK, intead of giving them power over it. Stop letting these so called leaders of our Nation divide us.

ps: If this offends you.... get over yourself.

Let the political pandering end here.

Nobody is arguing your right to own or fly a confederate flag. Are some of you that dense and that uninformed? People are arguing that these flags have no business displayed on government property.
You are allowed to paint a rebel flag on your chest and run down the street if you want. Nobody is going to take that away from you, nor is anyone trying to take that away from you.

Actually, they're trying now to make it a "hate crime" to display a Confederate flag at all. So yes, they're trying to take it away from us.

It's their businesses. If they don't want to sell an item it's their prerogative. So you don't want people to tell you not to fly the flag but you want to tell a business what it can and can't sell?
You can buy flags at any number of places and can fly it freely on your property without any repercussion from the law or goverment.

Re: Now The Symbol Of New Orleans Is Considered Racist

If people believe that Southern people were the only ones that had slaves, they can also do some looking into how many were owned by Northern people flying the stars and stripes, is it next? What about the Panther paws or whatever they call it, its symbole of the Black Panthers? Their is plenty of blame to go around when it comes to hatred. Their is no race that has not seen their share of slavery or hate crimes committed. Empires were built that way throughout history. Are all those flags going to be ban also?

Re: Now The Symbol Of New Orleans Is Considered Racist

I will repeat this once again

The Fleur-de-Lis is a "flower of the lily."

The Roman Catholic Church ascribed the lily as the special emblem of the Virgin Mary.

Due to its three "petals," the fleur-de-lis has also been used to represent the Holy Trinity

So it is a religious symbol thus falls under the separation of church and state debate if anything.

the saints are not in that topic.

In short all confederate soldiers were recognized as US military.

then there is this

Public Law 85-811
August 28, 1958 ^^ ^ ^ '^
[S- 3882] To amend the Act of July 1, 1948, chapter 791 (24 U. S. C. 279a), providing for

Be it enacted hy the Senate and House of Representati'ves of the
United States of America in Congress assenibled, That the first senprocurement,
tence of the
first section of the Act of July 1, 1948, chapter 791 (24
62 Stat. 1215. ^ g Q 279a), is amended to read as follows:

"That the Secretary of the Army is authorized and directed to furnish,
when requested, appropriate Government headstones or markers
at the expense of the ITnited States for the unmarked graves of the
following:
"(1) Soldiers of the Union and Confederate Armies of the Civil
War.
Approved August 28, 1958.

Both acts were to help in the healing process of this country.

So removal of confederate officers is really the removal of American soldiers.

great example of how a relocation of a flag can lead to breaking of federal laws.

So this confederacy war path needs to go to court. federal laws are being broken and the spirit of heeling a nation in which these laws were passed is unraveling. We are heading back 100 years in race relations in this country not forwards.

"We may have lost the game, but you'll be hurting tomorrow." Doug Atkins

Re: Now The Symbol Of New Orleans Is Considered Racist

Idea to end debate and make everyone equal.

Everyone should dress alike.
Screw hair styling - require shaving heads.
Homes should become housing with all furnishing the same.
Eliminate individuality and punish for personality.

Cities should be bulldozed.
We need to ensure everyone and everything is equal.
Then no one will suffer from feeling oppressed because we will all be oppressed.
No one offended.

Reminds me of a few things
Does it remind you of anything?
