On the one hand, coaches want to see fire and intensity. On the other, they are desperately trying to keep injuries at bay.

So while the Saints were allowed to hit each other, also known as "full go thud," they were being implored to keep guys off the ground off possible.

"Stay up, stay up!" and "protect your teammates!" were some of the things yelled at a lively practice on Sunday morning after safety Rafael Bush took running back Mark Ingram to the ground with a flying tackle near the sideline.

"Hopefully we're able to stay up and still fit tackle support, do those things," said Saints coach Sean Payton. "There will be a period or two where we go to the ground, but I thought we worked pretty well today. A handful of these times guys were on the ground, but I think they're doing a good job with the tempo."

From the players' perspective, it's a little different. Many of them, especially the younger players, haven't yet learned to turn off the burners. Bush, a five-year veteran, didn't think there was enough of it when they first put on the pads Saturday. So he implored his teammates to give a little more the following day.

Know the media, coaches, and golfing enthusiasts love West Virginia...

Personally, nothing toughens you up like a Louisiana Summer...Nothing...

Get back to Nicholls State in Thibodaux and toughen these babies up...
