The 2015 Saints Hype Tracker

Look, there’s nothing like preseason hype articles. You know the ones, the character stories in July and August that exist only to fill arbitrary inches at newspapers or post requirements for ESPN. There’s an art to hype articles, a beauty. These 800 word gems sometimes capture the rising stars of a team, but mostly, they exist only to build the narrative of hope around a player or team.

Maybe Dannelle Ellerbe is healthy for the first time in a year. Maybe Akiem Hicks is hungry for a bounce back year. Maybe Terron Armstead is preparing to be the best offensive lineman in the league.

The possibilities are endless.

Now, we here at B&G know you’re busy. There simply isn’t enough time in the day to track down every hype article on the internet, but Lord knows we tried. So we’ve taken the hype race and cataloged and quantified it for you.

Who’s getting the most articles written about them? How enthusiastic is the writer? Does that hype translate into success?

Well, we can answer at least two of the questions, so we present you with the 2015 Saints Preseason Hype Tracker. Embeded in the interactive below, you’ll find out who’s winning the hearts and pens of journalists subjugated to a month in West Virginia. Click on a headline at the bottom to find a link to the article in question. You may not have time to track down all the 2015 hype, but we do.

You can see our full database of articles here and if we’re missing any, please feel free to add the information to the spreadsheet. We’ll update this every few days until the final 53 man roster is set, so keep checking back to see who’s winning.

Re: The 2015 Saints Hype Tracker

To be honest there is really not that much hype this year. the kool aid truck has moved on from new orleans. I think it is more nervous apprehension going into this season. Unlike the gutting we did years back this one is loaded with question marks.

To be honest the house that Williams built back then for the defense in three years had a better foundation to it than the one Rob appears to be building. but i give him another year i guess.

Gregg Williams really knew players to get that were back ups that needed a shot to prove they were able to be starters in the NFL. Nothing flashy just smart blue collar football players.

As much as I hate him, GW played to his players strengths (95% of the time) can't say the same for Santa but really I haven't had this little "hype" for a season in some time, good or bad I don't know?
