The Saints have been hit with the injury bug quite a bit during training camp and in the first preseason game. It was no different in the first joint practice with the New England Patriots on Wednesday as defensive end Akiem Hicks had to leave the field with a knee injury according to Mike Triplett of ESPN.com
Hicks was able to walk off the field on his own power, but he was favoring his knee and the trainer was by his side. The trainer was able to stretch him out, but Hicks went inside afterwards. Injuries (serious and minor) happen every training camp. I am encouraged that the players are walking off on their own, not being carted off with what appears to be a serious knee injury like Panthers' Kelvin Benjamin earlier today.
