Well, isn't that a deep thought?
What forest is it that I can't see? Please enlighten me.

Fact is he's leading the polls for a reason.
Yes, the reason being, he's a loud mouth, and apparently the GOP loves nothing more than a loud mouth.

if nothing else Trump's presence gets us closer to reality and further from political correctness.
Hey, look at that, another buzzword. You are tired of canned political statements, but not tired of canned political buzzwords. To each his own. Oh, wait, to each his/her own Almost forgot to be politically correct.

Yeah, let's get our Trump on, and just go around slinging insult after insult with pseudo-bravado all over the place. Have an issue with your neighbor? Knock on his door and yell "you are a loser!!!". Your kid is having an issue in school? Go to the school and yell "that teacher must be on the rag!!!!".

.. oh, just make sure you keep your Mexican maid... after all, you are not about to pay a real wage for that...

'Cause the simple man pays the thrills, the bills and the pills that kill

COWARDS. That's part of our history, part of our heritage. This is what SOCIALISTS do, they try to strip away your history, your heritage and try to make you forget where you came from, what you've been through and who you were and who you are. If that flag hurts, or insults you, you need to get phycological help. It's OUR HISTORY, AMERICA'S HISTORY. It's not all perfect, it's not all pretty, but we've grown from it at least some have and those who cling to the past will never enjoy the present they have or the future they could have. Grow up people and open your damn eyes to what's being perpetrated by the powers that be currently in this country.

At the government level I can see an issue. But a public vote is the best way to do this. Unless it is a repeat of North Carolina all over again were the flag was placed there out of spite. Then it should just go. It was a dishonor to the flag itself being put there in spite because of the equal rights movement.

Now the most racist symbol in history is the democrat party itself. So lets be totally honest on this one.

Read this piece. It is not long but does a pretty job of painting the whole picture before the war

Why Was Cotton ‘King’? by Henry Louis Gates, Jr.

You get a pretty good idea of the hog wash civil war history has become. Not standing up for North nor am I standing up for the South in this debate. Both have blood on their hands in this one

Just argue the facts honestly, not what we were taught. Trust me. Once the true story is understood, a flag and some statues are the least of the issue.

History is always propaganda for the winning side.

Some day we must all move on.

Re: Archie Manning joins celebrity effort to change Mississippi state flag

Ill say one thing about this. I have no problem with the flag itself. The problem is that hate groups have used what used to be a symbol for fighting for what you believe in to a symbol of hate by adopting it as their banner.
If it really does truely offend people that bad then it has no place on a government property. Fly the flag on your own to show that you stick to your beliefs and enjoy the freedom to express your voice in any way you choose.
Changing street names and taking down statues are a totally different animal. Westerners are the only culture who tries to forget the past. Most every other culture remembers and records history accurately as it happened. They use this knowledge to keep from making the same mistakes. The Jews even preserved the concentration camps as a symbol of how much they went through and still survived. If anyone has the right to ***** its the Jews and Native americans.
Meanwhile while we are distracted glued to our TVs and arguing about things like the flag or how some races get preferential treatment Isis is using chemical weapons and american aid workers are getting slaughtered in Africa. Its easy to miss the really big issues when they have your complete focus on a relatively small issue in comparison. If we arent careful one day when we are busy arguing amongst ourselves someone is going to step in and do some serious damage right in our back yard and we wont see it coming.

I could right a small novel in response to your entire post, but I'll leave it at this: clinging to the past, aren't you doing the same thing?

Are you implying African American don't have the right to ******? The argument most people are concern with is the flag is a symbol of heritage/history. That is why the flag should be placed in a museum not in front of a courthouse. If we want to teach/express equal rights and freedom to ALL the flag don't belong cause it means total opposite.

Re: Archie Manning joins celebrity effort to change Mississippi state flag

The Confederate flag is not a symbol of slavery, hatred or racism. It was the national flag of a country that was once known as the Confederated States of America. A country that was made up of states who seceded from the union not because they wanted to keep their slaves, but because Abraham Lincoln wanted to centralize government and trample states rights. The fact is that industry was booming in the south at that time, much more so than in the north, and Lincoln wanted control of it. The southern states weren't willing to let the government come in and take over, and thus were perfectly within their rights to secede. Well naturally old honest Abe couldn't let all of our resources just slip through his fingers, but he knew he couldn't start a war simply over control either. To do that would have made him look like the bad guy (rightfully so) and damaged his legacy, which was also very important to him, possibly beyond repair. So he used slavery as his excuse to invade, because he knew it would portray him in a favorable light. Make no mistake, he didn't champion the cause of abolition because he was a great humanitarian, he did it because it was politically advantageous. In a letter to one of his General's during the war, he said that he viewed blacks as inferior, that he had no particular care for them, and that he would ultimately like to have them all sent back to Africa if possible. But the winner gets to write the history, so most people never hear a word of this. Just like they never hear that slavery was steadily being phased out anyway, because of the industrial advances that the south was responsible for. This info is out there though, and most of it can be found in a book called "The Real Lincoln". I strongly recommend that everyone read it, it's an eye opener. Turns out that the great Abraham Lincoln wasn't so great. He was a borderline tyrant who started a war that raped and devestated the south. Who turned a blind eye to the atrocities committed by his armies against innocent people. Elderly, women, children... entire cities burned to the ground in the name of "freedom"..... anyway, I say all that to loop back around to this: that flag represented a country, one that was brutally and unjustly beaten and starved to death. A country whose victims of war included the slaves it was supposedly meant to liberate. The fact that some ignorant jacka $$es have used the flag for their own purposes doesn't change what it truly represents. It represents the idea that we shouldn't have government shoved down our throats, and that we should be free to make our own choices, not be forced into what the government says we have to choose from. It's an important to part of our history and it needs to be honored as such. Forget about the hate groups and focus on the facts... and read that book!
