Billy-boy, I\'m confused by that last post. You started off by saying that you choose to remain optimistic and open, and that if a person chooses to only see the negative then he may as well just give up and expect more of the same. Right?

Then you go on to talk about how you haven\'t seen anything to indicate that things have (or will) changed, and you can\'t understand how coaches like Venturi are still here. So, seriously, are you simply choosing to ignore the fact that no substantial improvements have been made on the coaching staff b/c you\'d prefer to be optimistic rather than be down on a team that looks like it\'s headed for more of the same old?

How will FA help? Do you think this team lacks the talent currently to be a playoff team? I\'m asking serious questions here, by the way. I\'m not suggesting anything.

I mean, I guess I kind of miss the point. Sure, if the Saints get a pair of stud LBs and Orlando Pace in FA, I\'ll feel even more certain that even our coaching staff couldn\'t screw up this much talent. Then again, they\'ve proven time and again that there\'s really almost no limit to the level and amount of talent that they can squander. What I\'m suggesting is that I feel that this team has had the talent to be a playoff team for 4 years, but the coaching staff has been the primary reason for its failure to achieve. I assume by your comments that you feel differently???

Do I feel we can win with the current coaching staff? Yes.

If not, then I should just give up and expect more of the same. Right?

Am I sold that we\'re a playoff team? No.

Am I optimistic? Not really.....

Why? ... Well, I feel we need talent at \"key\" spots. And I don\'t think we can fill those needs in the draft alone.

We need to compete in free-agency. I\'m very sceptical about the approaching free-agency period. I don\'t think we\'ll sign anyone other than some mid-level and role players to fill roster spots and add depth.
