Saints center Max Unger reworks contract to clear cap space, per report
 

Finally a bit of good news!

According to a report by ESPN’s Field Yates, the New Orleans Saints and center Max Unger have agreed to restructure his contract.

The deal converts $3 million of Unger’s $4.5 million base salary into a signing bonus, a type of move GM Mickey Loomis and the Saints are known for doing. The contract adjustment creates an extra $1.5 million in cap room. His 2016 cap hit will go up to $6 million. Something may be brewing down on the bayou.

better rework this contract into an extension by 2016 which is his last year under contract.

Wonder what's going on...No way this is for Hakeem Nicks....although he did just visit. Maybe a defender?

Nicks has had issues but he earned over 1,000 yards a couple of times and is still a young man. Who knows, maybe a change in scenery is all he needed. In the right setting he could get it done. He's a dirty fighter for the ball like Snead. Word is he tried to comeback from a knee injury too soon. Was not the same after that.

Where are we heavy enough to cut someone? I can't see us going into the regular season with only 4 WR.
