Apparently, Saints quarterback Drew Brees left out a few minor details when he told coach Sean Payton in June that he'd be filming an episode of Running in the Wild With Bear Grylls over the offseason.

That episode, which aired on Monday, pretty much left Payton speechless.

Payton admitted this week that before watching Monday's episode, he was under the impression that Brees was going into a "Sea World (type) of environment" with Bear Grylls.

That's not what happened though. Instead, Payton watched in horror as his star quarterback jumped out of a helicopter in Panama and wrestled a crocodile.

"What I saw the other night was completely ... it was a lot different than how it was described to me ... I'm sure that we will look closely at the structure of his contract. It was pretty unbelievable," Payton said on Wednesday, via WWL-TV, the CBS affiliate in New Orleans...

The Saints coach did get Brees back on Wednesday. Payton left his quarterback a surprise the chair Brees was about to use for an upcoming press conference.

The part we all didn't see was shooting the croc with a tranquilizer before
Brees turned into Crocodile Dundee.

I love the guy and his Super Bowl win for us, so don't jump on me for pointing this out, but ...

This article is just further evidence that Sean Payton kinda doesn't have any control over this team whatsoever, and sometimes it feels like he really hasn't had real control for a while -- like maybe since he left in 2011.

As a general rule, guys on this team have NO filter, and they just do whatever the heck they want -- who cares -- and Payton often seems to be completely out of the loop, or the last one to know or be informed of it. From the top stars like Junior and Brees, to the marginal roster guys like Joe Morgan passing out behind the wheel , nobody seems to have that gut instinct or fear in their bones of "oh geez, what is my coach gonna think about this?" or worrying will there be any repercussions for their job or anything.

You have people like Junior and Cam, acting like asinine clowns off the field...sorry folks, but that kind of thing NEVER happened to us when Payton was a younger coach. He ran those early teams with an iron fist. Players were scared of him.

Brees is a very smart guy, and of course anything he does is going to be a measured, calculated risk...but it was a calculated risk -- if something goes wrong it's basically a calculation of the risk involved, and then his past and current earnings versus the risk to his future earnings. So if he'd lost a hand to a gator or broken his back jumping out of a plane, he knows he and his family would have been just fine.... I'm sure he wouldn't have done this in 2005 when his earnings were not so solid! Take for example that football guy who recently blew off his fingers with fireworks, ending his career -- not a smart risk calculation on his part.

Anyway, my point is, Brees doing the stuff is not really the issue; Payton being out of touch and having no clue, well that kinda tells you something...
