The topic renders me speechless. With this coaching staff, anyway.

What happened to the Payton that kicks onside kicks after halftime? I want that guy back and we need some playmakers to stretch the field and not drop balls. Defenses just have to pull safeties to the line and key on Ingram. Hopefully Spiller will provide that and it also sucks not having Lewis and the one who never plays which im too upset to mention names. Its only one game and its early. I still see 9 wins I just hope its enough to get in.

I have a different take...

Our offense was below average a lot of times today. YES, the offense. Colston is simply not the player he used to be. Far too many drops by BC and Colston. Slick Willie needs to be more involved in the offense. Our defense has a ton of new guys who held their own today... They'll get there. We often kept providing opportunities for the offense to score points (yet was stalled in the red zone). With more playing time, we will do a better job. Penalties kept drives alive and subsequently turned into point for the Redbirds. No shame... Arizona is a quality team.

One solid lock and positive is the kicker. Those balls were straight down the middle :bng:

13 dink-and-dunks for 149 yards.
If we can get a few more down the field targets that would be a positive.
Brees had time, just did not see anyone open.
Play calling has to get better.
Have to start running the ball with 1 back and spread set.
I think the almost sacks have to just close the deal.
We've got talent. Limit the mistakes. Make plays in the moments that matter.
Zona was 7-1 before Palmer went down...and their cover guys are top shelf.

We look great after a turnover gift by the defense putting 12 on the field.
Otherwise, it would have been 31-12.

Apologies for quoting myself, but since the discussion has jumped here, well, here it is...

Only disappointment I saw was in, of all things, the veterans...

Marques Colston, God Bless Him, the olde warrior doesn't look like he's got anything left in the tank...

Jahri Evans, former all-pro has had one foot out of the door the since that big contract and is mailing it in...

Zach Strief, wily, big-hearted guy, lacked the athleticism and committed a crucial holding penalty...

Cam Jordan, absolutely ridiculous he isn't finishing plays; said it was a mistake committing the scheme to him, and it was...

Brownwer, see why he wants to return to Seattle and why Pats benched him - he's not worth a sh*t after five yards and can't make an interception (despite two gifts) to save his life...

On the positive...

We've got some great rookie, youngster play today...

While Stephone Anthony has to learn to play quarterback on defense and flow better through blocks, he was tremendous on coverage in the middle...

Hau'oli Kikaha may just be the best strong outside linebacker prospect since Rickey Jackson; relentless motor, always trying to make a play...

Someone cloned Fred Thomas and renamed him Damian Swann as the rookie plays with fire and heart, and is setting the bar by example...

With the exception of a poorly executed chip block while moving to the next level, Tim Lelito held up very well against a varied group of stout defensive linemen...

We better find a way to get Willie Snead on the field more as we got another Lance Moore (maybe even quicker) and we didn't utilize him nearly enough...

Finally, I'd like to have gotten Marcus Murphy at least five touches instead of Ingram on those obvious passing downs...

Really believe Murphy would have converted with his size, quickness and been the difference in the game...

SP needs to go with Colston. The score was 17-16 at one point and we still refuse to run the ball. It's like the opposite of Les Miles. 50 passes compared to 20 runs is stupid. We are not Baylor or TCU. This is the pros. It's almost like he is strictly trying to get Brees records instead of wins. The young defense did appear to have talent and a bright future.
