New Orleans Saints re-sign Tim Hightower, Mike McGlynn, waive Seantavius Jones and Toben Opurum

The New Orleans Saints flurry of activity from Saturday didn't last long.

The Saints re-signed veteran running back Tim Hightower and offensive lineman Mike McGlynn after releasing them on Friday to open up spots to promote several practice squad players.

Two of those practice squad players—wide receiver Seantavius Jones and fullback Toben Opurum, who were promoted to the active roster to play special teams against the Cardinals—have been waived.

Its bottom of the roster shuffling.

No surprise at all.

We are bi-polar with RB's this year. How many do we need seriously. A WR that will catch the ball when it's on target or maybe fight for one now and then. I could live with that move.

Pick a number..............Coach wants to see you, bring your playbook! The "No Plan" plan in action! Cut two guys to make room for two guys only to cut them to resign the two you just cut! Yeah, they have a plan!

Why do you think they have no plan? This kind of roster shuffling goes on all the time. You have minor injuries, scout team looks, special teams matchups, salary concerns, depth issues etc.

If anything it shows they do indeed have a plan and stick to it every week.

If Jones and Opurum clear waivers, they're likely back on the practice squad.

I think people are just frustrated with the front office in general. Some jumbo mistakes in recent years like paying Byrd a 6 year $54,000,000 contract and basically 2.2 million last year and this year to ride bench.

I think the 2015 upgrades and draft (except for Peat who came in to camp out of shape) have been great. But the fanbase is just critical of the front office as we've wasted a couple drafts and 2012-14 personnel decisions were times we could have re-loaded but we squandered chances and now we have to turn the roster over to "rebuild".

I don't pay any mind to all the shuffling, but the frustration that Halo pointed out is definitely boiling over. All the tinkering is akin to someone scratching on a chalk board, as we sit here and look at massive depth issues, and huge salaries for unproductive and injured players.

It's just a nuisance for some. The tinkering isn't what bothers me, it's just everything else that I mentioned. Other than that, everything is peachy.

The "No Plan" was mentioned by another member who claimed to have two sources in the front office who confirmed there was no rhyme or reason to the choices made during the draft. Not my thoughts.

(My use of the term "another member" doesn't mean you.......)

Uhhh, yeah right.

The front office is actually gonna say "We don't really have a plan we're just cutting and re-signing players for the fun of it to make it look like we know what we're doing"

Seriously?

That "other member" is an idiot. And not just a back-up idiot or a rotational idiot, but an all-pro idiot.

Bingo. They definitely have a plan. It just isn't a very good one. I get told, and we all get told that these guys are smarter than us and that we we're stupid if we think we understand what goes on. But it actually takes a dumb person to not see something this obvious. We can hope that lessons have been learned and that we can rebuild. But the fact that we're even in rebuild mode with all the money spent is a testament to just how badly the front office has misfired.

I don't sit in on any meetings with the president, the congress or the senate. But I can tell you we're in a deep recession. How did I know that?.... Who DOESN'T? And the same goes for this situation our team is in. You don't have to know everything to see the obvious.

I didn't see any of the game. Was it a heartless performance like last year or is there an effort there?

And while he's getting in shape, WTH are we not putting Murphy in for 5-10 touches in a Darren Sproles type role?!?

Not hating on Ingram, but a couple of those plays, Murphy and his stature have a better chance of converting those scat-back plays...

Just a guess...

But maybe he hasn't mastered pass protection or the numerous plays in the playbook to add any type of on-filed advantage over Ingram or Robinson?

Yep ... don't think Sean is ready just yet to release Murphy to the wolves on that one. Last thing we need is a broke up Brees.
