I think the window for the Payton-Brees era has closed.

I don't say that happily obviously. I wanted to see the magic one more time.

I don't say it arrogantly (I told you so manner) because I really thought we'd win 11 looking at the schedule, starting slow until the defense could get some experience. WRONG! The offense is pedestrian at best and that was not on my radar.


Dead money galore.
Brees not himself (either injured, slowing down, or lacking support)
O-line inconsistent pass blocking and horrible run blocking
WRs can't get separation
Defense improving but still gives up too many big plays
Pass rush is weak at best
Draft = disaster and free agency no better


I can see Ryan gone as the scapegoat, Allen & Payton coaching a Brees-less team in cap hell. Rebuilding next year - assuming Payton will stay.

VERY DISAPPOINTING.


I stick with the Saints until the end - but the window has closed on the combo that brought us a Champion...

Drafting mostly defense since the Super Bowl and we have only Cam Jordan & KV to show for it. Loomis need to be demoted or fired

The window actually slammed shut a couple of seasons ago but we were too much in love with this team to see it.

As much as I hate it, you're probably right. The defense isn't very good, and the offense is declining.

Brees has 27.5 cap hit next season. He can be cut to save 20 of that, but there will be 7.4 in dead money. Saints will have a big decision to make with him.

Poor drafting likely will doom the team for a couple of years as they rebuild and it will take smart drafting as it will take a year or two to clear bad contracts from the cap.

So, yeah...the window appears to be closed.

Time to get rid of Payton and Loomis. Especially Loomis... He has crippled us.

We should have DESTROYED Tampa. Worst team in the league last year, horrible to start 2015 season, we're at home, etc.

Fact is - since we lost in New England in 2013 - the trajectory of this team is approaching TAILSPIN.
