Saints signed TE Connor Hamlett to practice squad

The New Orleans Saints made a small roster move on Wednesday afternoon as they signed rookie tight end Connor Hamlett to their practice squad according to Evan Woodberry of NOLA.com.

Hamlett takes the place of Cameron Brate who was signed to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers active roster. Hamlet originally signed with the Jacksonville Jaguars as an undrafted free agent. After being waived by the Jaguars, he spent one week on the Philadelphia Eagles practice squad.

The first thing to clarify with tight end Connor Hamlett during the Jaguars’ rookie minicamp earlier this month: What happened to his retirement from football?

Citing existing knee issues, Hamlett told his hometown paper in Washington state he “didn’t want to be in pain every day. I felt like it was time to move on and live a normal life.”

That was in late January.

On May 3, Hamlett agreed to terms with the Jaguars.

What gives?

“I just took some time off because I was banged up,” said Hamlett, launching into a denial that he retired. “I love the game of football, and I wanted to play. The whole [story] kind of got blown out of proportion.”

Hamlett had to spend time telling/convincing NFL teams he was good to sign with them.

What gives? odds are he found out real life outside of getting paid to play a game suxs and does not pay as much. So Bring on the pain and get a replacement when it is needed.

He is Tall! No YAC. plenty of other players out there i would have signed before him.

Yeah this is a strange one especially after reading his profile.
Who knows about the retiring, my guess there was a Woman
interest in the mix.
