You either take a bunch of great athletes and put them in a simple defence and just let them get after the opponent.
Or you take a bunch of lesser athletes and try to tailor the defence around the to cover up the deficencies.

Right now it feels like we are doing neither. I can't pinpoint what is lacking but we just don't have it right now.

I myself prefer the first scenario, I would like that we keep drafting defence and get a new DC to install a regular 4-3 with over and under fronts. 3-4 is nice and dandy but its so hard to find the right pieces.
We don't have the athletes to implement the schemes because they are in the tub. Theoretically they look really good on paper. It's getting them on the field at the same time that matters. RR has had a bad run of luck with injuries wherever he's been.

Read a very interesting stat (hopefully someone can post) earlier today on how Rob is using Kikaha in coverage compared to other notable rookie pass rushers.

Brace yourself ... Kikaha has dropped back in coverage over 38% of the time. That's three times as many as the next rookie pass rusher Kyle Manuel (11 %), Bud Dupree (10%), Shane Ray (3%) .

And you wonder why we are so bad on D. His scheme is laughable at times.
