NFLN Says Brees has a Slight Tear

1 Attachment(s)
Ian Rapoport reports Brees has a sprain rather than just a bruise in his rotator cuff. That means there is some structural damage in the shoulder...

Brees was termed a “long shot” in the NFL Gameday show report to play next Sunday night against the Cowboys at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome.

If Drew started, I'm not sure it would help with a defense that can't stop anything. Realize that Carolina was without Kelvin Benjamin and Jerricho Cotchery and Cam Newton scorched us by passing for 315 yards, 2 touchdowns, and half of those yards to their tight end Olsen.

So you're saying that Payton was unforthcoming about an injury? I'm shocked, I tell you, shocked!

Re: NFLN Says Brees has a Slight Tear

First it was torn, then it was nothing, then it was a bruise, then it was "inflammation and strength issues and not torn" (Oh I got it... So there's nothing REALLY wrong, it's just that you have no arm strength. That's a relief) and now it's "slightly" torn.

I'm so thankful we have such hard working media to make guesses for us. If it weren't for these journalistic warriors we would never know what we thought we knew, that they thought they knew what someone else thought he knew. Good stuff.

And I could care less what the Saints say about it. They have no intention of telling us anything straight.

They have been lying to us for a long time. I doubt Brees will play the rest of the year.

Don't think Drew's injury is that serious. If it was he would be on IR with designation to return or IR in general. No way with the way we need help on both sides of the ball would we waste a roster spot just to play games about him being hurt or able to play. Payton is not that stupid.

Pass was a little underthrown, but I just don't see that play being a high percentage with Cooks because he is smaller than any of the DBs covering him, they need to quit trying that one, IMO. Or try it with Coleman who can get up higher than the DB.

Ed Werder
@Edwerderespn

#Saints QB @drewbrees flew to Birmingham for extensive evaluation of passing shoulder by Dr James Andrews. Results very positive. Status tbd 6m

I am assuming this just happened today since it was just posted on ESPN

Drew adds 7pts, and your right. Seeing as we need 30pts a game to even have a chance to win because our D has been the worst for years, yes he would help.
Brees would beat McCown on most days, with an even O and D.
I dont believe the D can improve with the current coaching staff. They all need to be fired.
We have one of the worst DC track records for 9 years now, compared to other playoff teams.
We have to overcome the other team and our own defense in a game. Killing clock and eventually giving up points.
So, to win a game we need the guy that has the best chance for just 3-7 pts more than the other, and thats Brees.
If he's not playing its better odds we go 0-4 as I see it. If Brees is healthy.

Re: NFLN Says Brees has a Slight Tear

I had a "small" tear in my rotator cuff repaired. If Drew does have a tear he won't be back till the season is long dead and buried.

This can't be true because Guido said so! Just yesterday he argued and cursed me over this very report. You know he has all those inside connections........

In fairness, they reported that a "source" said he will miss 4 weeks. I doubt he will miss that long. Ed Werder has been all over this. I trust his report before a "soirce"

Yes, I called you on what you posted yesterday:

Quote:

How about after week 3? According to SP Drew will be out 4 more weeks at least.
Payton said no such thing. In fact, yesterday he said he was "optimistic" about Brees' chances of playing Sunday. People come here for information, not for bull. You either made that up or fell for a line of crap that someone else made up. People need to do a quick little search to confirm things before posting something as a fact.

It was reported on Nfln guido. But like I stated above, it was a source that said it.

I know about that "report", but voodooido "reported" that SP was the one who stated it. That's what I was calling him on.

The only "sources" I can trust are the Saints front office and/or Dr. James Andrews.

What I don't get is that, and I'll admit this - I've questioned his arm strength/stamina for a couple of seasons...

And yes, he's made some, some, deep throws that were sweet, but has been unable to do it consistently...

So what has happened now that he doesn't have the strength?!? Nerve damage?!?

Might explain why we passed on Georgia Wide Receiver Chris Conley among other wide receiver options in the third for a quarterback named Grayson...

Romo's bed buddy at ESPN reports Brees felt good after throwing session today and will return to practice tomorrow

A bruise prevents a muscle from contracting properly. That would affect both the power generated and the fluid motion of the muscle involved. For Brees that meant his distance (velocity) and his accuracy were affected. That was obvious in the second half against the Bucs.

I hope he gets some zip on the ball, McCown had good zip. Also if he can't throw the deep ball he should sit until he can.

SaintFanQ 09-29-2015 03:41 PM

Re: NFLN Says Brees has a Slight Tear

McCown will also have the advantage, ha ha! of playing at home this Sunday if he has to start against the Cowboys!

I assume it still is classed as an advantage to play at home these days??? :-)
