Saints release wide receiver Joe Morgan, make practice squad moves

The New Orleans Saints have released veteran wide receiver Joe Morgan, according to the NFL’s transactions wire.

Morgan, who was cut in the Saints’ initial purge down to 53 and brought back after the season-opener, had been used sparingly in three weeks on the 53-man roster.

The veteran played 10 snaps against Tampa Bay, then did not see the field against Carolina on offense and was declared inactive last week against Dallas.

With Morgan’s release, there’s now a spot open on the Saints’ 53-man roster.

New Orleans released tight end Connor Hamlett from the practice squad on Tuesday, released tight end Kevin Brock from injured reserve and released veteran running back DuJuan Harris, who had been battling an abdominal injury, from the practice squad with an injury settlement.

The open spot on the practice squad will be filled by signing wide receiver Reggie Bell, according to a source.

what ever happened to this guy ? it was looking good for awhile, dui, did him in? wth we need speed to help this team, we need ball catchers and we let go someone with the knowledge of our playbook. again

At this point, I'm not so sure about Morgan's future status here. Even when healthy, Brees hadn't thrown the deep ball much. Slick Willie has been a nice addition on the short intermediate passes & Coleman has had decent moments.

I'm probably in the minority, but it may be time to move away from Joe.

Reggie Bell????? hmmmm must be a heck of a route runner and/or accels at hot reads?????????

PT was a rare jewel in the screen game (no one better in my mind) but with Ingram, Khiry, CJ & Murphy in the mix, we simply don't have enough footballs to go around in a game.

Other than that fantastic catch in Tampa Bay where I practically did a David Lee Roth back flip off the couch celebrating, the guy hasn't really done much.
