What is your football experience?

This might not be a purely Saints related topic but we all draw from our experiences when talking about our beloved team. I have been around this forum for quite some time and we often pat eachothers backs around here and believe we have an above average level of analysis and understanding here compared to other forums.

I have gotten increasingly curious about what football experience everybody on here actually have. I tried to make the poll pretty comprehensive but please write a little more about it.

I just realized you're from SWEDEN! I LOVE your women. Can you bring some?

my football experience:
-- high school backup/ bench / utility guy - I was pretty much Rudy of my
school.
-workhorse RB vs. the 1st string every day. actually got a lot of respect
for the role, so I felt like part of the team.

-- Played RB, LB, and also returned punts.
- my h.s. had a losing tradition, but I was lucky enough to play on
2 of their rare winning teams. Very exciting times.

thats all.
grew up rooting for the Oilers. Caught on with the Saints in '83.

We actually ran some single wing in 2010 as a goal line / short yardage offence.

Quit playing in High School to pursue other interests (skateboarding, beer, pot and girls).

A couple of concussions while at John Curtis made it a fairly easy decision.:p

My mother REFUSED to let me play football.

My dad had no other course of action but to listen to my mother.

So I was a baseball/basketball player throughout HS.

Coach softball now and then.

Re: What is your football experience?

I played little league through high school. Went to go walk on at the University of South Alabama and I was flunking so I came back home and got my associates.

I played WR, wing back, safety, and corner with corner being my primary position. My senior year at Ocean Springs High School I gave up less then 100 yards the whole season and 1 TD with around 12 passes defended. No picks, which irks me to this day.

Also played with DeAndre Brown. Idk if y'all remember him, but wish the Saints would sign him. He's the best player I've ever seen in person.

Little league till Jr in high school OL & DL where knee problems ended my football career and had to stick to baseball. And to follow darstep now I carry a golf club but will still toss the pigskin around with the neighbor kids.

Played jr high, loved playing but I was small. Got nailed so hard one time over the middle....sent me into early retirement. It was one of those Kurt Warner ones. Wrestling cross country, went that route.

Re: What is your football experience?

Played Pony/Junior League, High School and on a couple Base teams for 2dMarDiv, 3dMarDiv, 4thMarDiv, though I'd usually deploy at some time during a season, #shrug.

Always played OL/DL, lotta' left tackle & nose guard ... pretty much anything I wanted to accomplish on a football field could be done in that little box a couple yards either side of the line of scrimmage,.

Did help out at my son's school as an assistant line coach/booster, but the game had changed to the point that most the stuff I remember as being effective, ie hand shivers, forearm shivers, blocking with your head, et ... were outlawed so I pretty much resigned myself to just being a motivator/mentor-type, organizing chili cook-off fundraiser stuff and whatever else needed to be done, Go Huskies! :).

Pee Wee got hit so hard by the bigger kids my mom pulled the plug. JR. High played S ans RB. I played S well enough but at 80 lbs. as a RB it don't cut it. High School started out at lb. a 115 lb. is a hard roll to go. Grades, women and xtra coricular activities(puff, puff, pass) kind of got in the way after that. Til' today I like smash-mouth football, and especially a great D.

Same for me. I have loved football my entire life but mother would have no part in it. I played baseball for 15 years but that is about it for my sports career.

Trained but never actually played a full game with the Leicester Panthers in the UK.

If you check the stats you will see that Sean Payton was the QB and Coach for the Leicester Panthers but not when I was with them.

This may be hard to believe but I was too much of a puzzy for tackle.
Always could make a complete idiot laugh though.
Tackle Football - Short career Middle School 7th Grade... broke arm in practice.

SWIMMING TEAM - Two State Championships in High School

Funny Story -
Sophomore in High School
PE Class Exam I did 43 push ups in 30 seconds hitting the ground every time (expert in Butterfly) then I ran the 440 in 58 seconds (that's once around the track field 440 yards 1/4 mile in under one minute) since I swam one mile everyday in swimming practice. The coach wanted me to come out for track. I told him "Hell No" our team was State Champs and besides, no one stunk in the locker room, I never sweated, I never got bruised or hurt and besides, at the swimming meets there were girl teams with suits that weighed about 1 ounce. He told me to GTFOUH and he would never ask me again. Needless to say, we became good friends. LOL :D

Yep, that comes under "Other". Announcing sounds cool, ... I use to run the penalty boxes and/or scoreboards at some of my kid's hockey games and use to always try and figure out how to get the sound to work,.

I couldn't even crack a roster for six man football when I went to school in Texas. I was a late bloomer and started playing Rugby football in college. I played select side rugby nine times and still play in an over 55 year old league.

I never played football but I play a pretty mean game of tackle football on Sundays.

Starting guard & nose guard for the fearsome Beauregard JHS Bulldogs 67-68

Dummy holder and special teams for the Warren Easton Fighting Eagles 69-71.

I actually started one game at center (a position I had never played before) at whopping 170 pounds. Got my ass handed to me by a 275 pound guard for 4 quarters. I didn't make any holes but I didn't give up any sacks either.

7 time All American swimmer. Closest I came to tackle sports was watching my brother play defensive end in high school. Some of us were just too light to realistically play.

TE/DE High School.

Half-way through had to decide between baseball & football b/c I couldn't keep my grades up...chose baseball.

Apparently I couldn't chase girls, hang out with my buds, play football & baseball, and keep my grades up all at the same time as a teenager.

Ended up coaching some football to pre-teen & teenagers while overseas during my military career.

Re: What is your football experience?

High school ball? LMAO went to St Pauls in Covinton back when we just moved up to triple A. small school with just enough players to field half a team. two way and played every where. Back injury sidelined me for two years.

Ended any hope of playing again while at the mighty power house of Castleton Spartans Vermont great division 111 school. MLB yep there is a woman in the story, somewhere. Like football that was a short story. not enough to fill a chapter lol

My scouting report? solid read and react skill set. good hands when defending of blockers. plays hard and plays nasty.

Loved laying people out and watch their eyes roll back in there head. The icing on the cake was when they started blowing snot bubbles. That was when you knew they were done for. Nothing better than a bone jarring hit to get your head into the game. Use to keep count in my locker of the knock outs. 6 in 8 games and it all came to end. A solid crack back block by a TE did me in. I did not see him. He laid me out and stood over me gloating. It was a great hit. All is fair in love and war :)

I could get up and go with the best of them. Top end speed? 4.55 40. But the real story was after 15 to 20 yards I had no more gears left and started sucking everyone's dust. that was were I could be beat. A step late all game long outside the tackles. In the box against the run I was not that bad. 2 down man

Did time in the video rooms of various universities athletic programs over the years. nothing big till I went to the Unv. of Minnesota. cut and pasting scouting and game tapes for the gophers.

I guess it is in my blood. I can watch tapes year around.

Re: What is your football experience?

Played in the Amateur Leagues in the UK for 8 years.

Started at 14 years old for the Nottingham Caesars

3 years of Flag Football
Rookie of the year first season with 14 receiving TD's
Offensive MVP the next season

I found flag football very easy, it gave me a great chance to focus solely on ball skills as I wasn't a particularly big guy but I was pretty fast and could beat coverage. I like to think I had pretty good hands too.

Started playing youth kitted at 17 years old
Two years of Youth kitted
Started at WR but quickly switched when our offense was nothing but run, run, run.
Changed to Free Safety and the very last play at Youth Kitted for me was a game winning interception :D
Played as starting Free Safety and Kick/punt returner mainly.

Went to the Senior Nottingham Caesars 18+ team

Did not get played at all in any games.

Left Nottingham and Signed with Lincolnshire Bombers.

First Preseason game - 2 TD's on wide receiver reverses, game MVP
First regular season game - 2 TD's and one 2 point conversion - offensive MVP.

3 Training sessions later - broke my fingers

After that the rest of the season followed the same way - Dislocated my shoulder and tore ligaments in my knee and work kind of made it difficult to continue even after those were all healed.

Would love to coach!!!

Check out my YouTube footage of my first regular season game for Lincolnshire

I score at 1:07, 1:17 and 2:44, I'm number 88 for Lincoln (white, black, red kit)
