Simple as that. Don't like it. But, playing in the NFL is a privilege, not a right. All rules and conduct are negotiated. It is what it is.

Guessing that the tribute was worth the fine. less than 6 grand? A lot on many salaries = not an NFL player's.

Did you read my entire post before replying to it? Did I not bring up the players association? I know what the rules are and how they are set. The rules are idiotic, and that is the very point. Is that really difficult to understand?

The players association does not protect it's players from ignoramus rules, it only cares about money. Yet it fails in that category, because everyone is getting fined for stupid reasons.

I didn't ask you or anyone else in here IF or HOW the rules are what they are. It is pathetic that they would have a rule like this. And my first post in this thread was about what a joke the whole system is. When you stop and think of all the reasons the league is successful, it literally has nothing to do with league office and it's so called "brand".

When the players go on strike and use replacement players, how well does that brand stand up? You lose the talent you lose a great deal of fan interest. An employee at walmart needs his manager, because he can't provide the things the store needs. He doesn't have work without having something being provided his tasks. Players just need to play and get paid. The fans pay the tickets and the owners pay the players. What does the league do? The NFL does not provide it's "inventory", so to speak.

And by the way, the NFL does a lot of things arbitrarily. Just because they can, does not make it RIGHT. One more thing... While we're comparing the NFL to all other businesses, would walmart really fine someone if they had a tribute to someone who died on their face? Maybe they would do something if that person actually had something offensive written. Do you think maybe the NFL could use discretion instead of just fining any message at all? Players have the ability to talk, and say lots of dumb things. They don't get fined for saying anything about their dads, but they do if they criticize a ref or something. Should we tell them they can't talk now, in case someone says something offensive?

You would like to think that its a players leuage but that is very far from the truth. You have a few players with staying power but the average career is about 2 years. I'm not calling that a players leauge. People root for the teams more than the players.

Service industry, entertainment industry, doen't matter. I could make the comaprison to the military or police department or any other organization or company that has a uniform regulation. You know what you sign up for, follow the rules or face the consequences.
