New Orleans Saints release punter Brandon Fields, source says
 

The New Orleans Saints are releasing punter Brandon Fields, according to a source.

That's a good sign for the health of Thomas Morstead, who missed two games with an injured quad. The Saints carried two punters on the roster while Morstead recovered.

Fields appeared in two games for the Saints, punting 10 times for an average of 41.2 yards.

Morstead appeared in four games this season prior to his injury, averaging 43.6 yards a punt (39.4 net yards).

With the Saints signing wide receiver T.J. Graham, Fields' release appears to be the corresponding move to open up a roster spot.
