CAN THE SAINTS BECOME CONSISTENT?
So Far this season the New Orleans Saints have continued to play like an enigma wrapped up in a riddle. After an uninspiring loss to Seattle, with little to no defense present anywhere on the field, the Saints pulled out heart stopping comeback wins against the 49ers and Rams. Then the Saints forced us to watch them play in Arizona with no defense and no offense. From week to week, Saints fans are left wondering what team will show up. The very talented high powdered offense the can score at will, or the mistake prone penalty ridden offence that can not get a first down. The strong pass rush that has five sacks a game or the seven second pass rush that gives up 3rd down and 27 yards.

The Saints have three major problems that they have done very little to address: discipline, run defense, and leadership.

Discipline: I like coach Haslett but that fact is he is not running the team, the players are. On average the Saints are allowing 8 to 10 penalties per game, for 85 to 125 yards per game. Players like Victor Riley are killing drives that might lead to points with false start penalties and holding calls. What does coach Haslett do, nothing. Bench SOMEBODY!

Run Defense: For the last few years despite what other people might think the Defense’s real problem has been stopping the run. Teams have run at will, which opens up the passing game. The Saints DB’s are too old and to slow to cheat up on the run and then try to recover from play action and make a play on the receiver. Our linebackers are simply not doing their job.

Leadership: Aaron Brooks needs to act like a leader. When somebody on offense makes a mistake the offensive leader needs to call them out. I don’t mean crying like a Terrel Owens, but tell your right guard to settle down and wait for the count. And stop smiling like a TV anchor man when you make a mistake.

Saints fans there is hope. The return of LB Hodge this week will provide the linebackers with some veteran help. Aaron Brooks was looking like he wanted to kill somebody after the Arizona game, so maybe he will be ready to play for Sunday’s game.

The bottom line is on any given weekend the Saints can beat any team in the league. The only team that can beat the Saints are the Saints; problem is they usually do beat themselves. Still Hoping!!!!

WHY ARE THESE TWO GUYS STILL HERE?

Oh, yeah...we won the last four games of the season, and had the second-longest winning streak in the NFL to end the season. Sorry, I forgot for a second. :casstet:
