Why so many bottom of the roster moves?

OK, I hear a lot of people complaining about this and it got me thinking.

Each player that we bring in, yet cut before the next week’s game, doesn’t count against our cap. It only counts if they get a gamecheck.

So why not bring in multiple players at multiple positions and get a good look at them in practice with pads on?

We can determine if they are a fit for us or not, and they’ll likely still be available to re-sign the following week if we like what we see but don’t want that cap hit of a game day check.

It’s a great way to not only kick the tires, but drive it for a few days, turn it in, then drive it for a few more days the following week. If injuries occur and we need to make a move, then we re-sign the guy (or the other 2 or 3 that we looked at) to fill in.

It’s actually quite brilliant.

Seems like we've done so much more roster churning this season. Jeff Ireland's influence perhaps? I like it. If it isn't counting against the cap then why not?

It's the fact that some players don't even really get a chance, and some guys, like Joe Morgan, get brought in multiple times. What do you find out about a player one week that you didn't know the previous week, especially when he was on your roster for years?

Everybody gets the practical reasons why you bring in certain players for a look. What's annoying about this season is that the speed of which players are entering and exiting the building, as well as the number of players involved, would seem to suggest that the team either has very little idea of what it's doing or is just really bored.

This opinion is largely influenced by the horrendous scouting of both free agents and most draft picks in recent years. Maybe I've just become programmed to hate every move this team makes until they get it right.

Also, when you're up against the cap, it nice to have a 3 page list of role players that can fill certain holes should they arise.

Every year it seems like we have one position that we dip into the FA pool due to injuries. Last year and the previous it was CB and Safety. This year it appears to be LB. I remember a few years back we went into a playoff game with the a recently added RB.
