Matt Flynn working hard to learn new Saints playbook
 

Matt Flynn joked that he brought his sleeping bag to Saints headquarters. While he will find a way to get back to see his family each night, he knows there isn’t going to be much time for resting over the next few days.

Signed by the Saints earlier this week to serve as Drew Brees’ backup quarterback following a back injury to Luke McCown, Flynn is doing everything he can to get digest a new playbook in time to be ready if an emergency situation arises.

Right now, he says he’d be in over his head if he were thrown to the fire. But he’s hoping to have a better grasp on this in time for this weekend’s game against the Washington Redskins.

“It’s definitely going to take some adjusting, verbiage-wise and with some formation stuff,” Flynn said. “But concept-wise, I’m pretty familiar with it. There’s some carryover, but there’s a lot to learn.”
