Field Yates of ESPN reports that the Saints worked out veteran LB Brad Jones and are bringing in RB Vick Ballard for a tryout.

Jones, 29, signed a two-year, $2.85 million contract that included $500,000 signing bonus with the Eagles back in March. However, he was waived by the Eagles last week to make room for OL Julian Vandervelde.

This season, Jones has appeared in seven games and recorded five tackles for the Eagles.

Ballard, 25, is in the final year of his four-year, $2.24 million rookie contract that included a $144,560 signing bonus. He’ll make a base salary of $660,000 this season.

The Colts wound up cutting him loose a few weeks into the season.

Ballard has missed all but one game over the past two years, so there is obviously some serious question about his future in the NFL.

Ballard is great when healthy. He hasn't been healthy in 3 years!

Rooting for Ballard. Pascagoula High School, Mississippi Gulf Coast CC, & Mississippi State guy...what's not to like? Homer...

Just the injury concerns. He'd be a good one...hard runner b/w the tackles, can catch out of the backfield & he's still young, too. He's probably lost a step & some quickness, though...I'd be surprised if he hasn't with all he's been through.

Maybe. Just maybe we need to look at our strength and conditioning coach (Dalrymple?) and reevaluate him as well.

Brad Jones is a solid player. with the packers he played inside and outside LB position and was a solid special team player.

I hope we can add him but I am sure this is not his only stop
