Gloomis has to go Thread

I blame this whole fiasco on Gloomis. The only real talent on defense are our two rookie LBs, which btw has continuously been a pathetic unit for years. On offense, Brees is fading, and other than him we have Unger and Armstead with any real future promise - maybe Snead too. Cooks was a waste at the #1 pick last year. Gloomis also royally screwed up our salary cap with the terrible decisions he made with Galette & Graham. Plus he got rid of Sproles and replaced him with who? Notice no one ever says In Loomis We Trust anymore. Time for him to go!!

And Payton, he's lost the team, no one plays hard for him anymore.

Gloomis sure has blame but I still say the saints went all out to get Rob the players he wanted and it shows on offense against the elite defenses in the NFL.

Gloomis is a pencil pusher anyways and he to answer to that

It's all because we let Tracy Porter "get away"

The first personnel mistake in so far as letting someone go was Fujita...

Fire the strength coach.
the offensive and defensive lines are being dominated!!!!!!!!!!!!

NFL games are won/loss at then line of scrimmage.
Payton knows it; that's why he calls too many screen plays.................

Payton will quit. Next year you guys will be pissing and moaning that we would have won if Payton was still here.
Be careful what you wish for. I think he is done. I think he quits in odd fashion right after the draft or before training camp.

Re: Gloomis has to go Thread

Brees needs to go then. I don't want him playing for a loser. He could be a major improvement for Denver over Manning and get that second ring.

I think Rivers is a suitable replacement. I won't drink the kool-aid anymore Rivers played better than Brees did in SD. Rivers is probably done in SD after this season. Palmer is showing in Arizona what a veteran qb could do. I will not sit back and allow Drew Brees have just one ring and have his late years as a saint crapped on by Cam Newton.

Dude, what people really want is 'ole Payton back, not old Payton (sans the double reverse play calls)...

The real liability has been Loomis; who has never really built a team nor plan to keep a fortunate team together...

Loomis never solved the cap problem he created, but kicked the can down the road, delaying dealing with the cap...

In addition, a strong GM, nay, a leader, would've walked into Payton's office and convinced SP that many of his assistants needed replacement...

(i.e. Vitt, Johnson, Engalls, McMahon)

With regards to player personnel, free agents and draftees, the overall record has been abysmal...

Payton finally addressed the problem, making room for Ireland, and even came before the public stating there'd be changes...

And yet, the free agents brought in or re-signed just prior have become real liabilities...

Note: With the exception of Mark Ingram, who after being for the most part a first round draft-bust, has become a quality NFL starting running back...

So for failing to solve the salary cap problem, failing to check his head coach on his staff, and for failing to stock the team with competitive talent, Mickey Loomis should be thanked for his services and given his parting gifts...

Im hugely disappointed / frustrated, as is everyone else.

I dont know who the sacrificial goat should be. I thought Rob Ryan filled that role for us already.

I dont believe Payton got stupid overnight. Is he committed to winning, or
focused? Who knows. Will him and Loomis ever build an NFL- worthy defense?
I dont know.

If I were going to select a singular solution, my guess is build an O-Line. I think possessing the ball and scoring would fix much of whats wrong with our Defense, or at least take us to where we were, when we were winning.

This team is "Tow-up from the Flo-up".

It is getting to the point of being laughable. My BP doesn't even rise anyone, when I watch this team play. Every thing they do is flippant, at best. There is not one element of the team that stands out among the rest as "The Worst". This is probably the worst Saints team I've seen.

More penalties than points. More penalty yards than rushing yards. The entire organization has become very undisciplined.

No he doesn't need to go. He needs to let Ireland make the draft decisions. We also need a new pro scout as well.

I hear you Rugby but what about the way he's handled free agency and the salary cap? Before becoming a GM, he was known for being a bean counter, but I think he's lost his touch.

Then you missed a couple decades of Saints football. Loomis definitely needs to go and someone other than Payton needs to handle the draft. Quit giving up picks trading up to pick players earlier than they are slotted to go. Quit bringing in a bunch of washed up cast off free agents and build through the draft.

Free agents are different than college players. No one said Ireland was successful in scouting free agents. That's why he got fired in Miami as a GM.

Exactly the offense used to lead the defense. Remember when we were down 21-10 in Miami, I don't recall any complaining about our defense then? If Brees cannot be the player he was in that season then we need weapons to help him become that. If we were up three TDs instead of two on NE that year BB does not bench Brady. Brees extra TDs were a difference maker in a lot of our games with a 20th ranked defense. I feel that the defense is being asked to do more than it did back then. Look pick sixes are not easy, it's a stroke of luck and we got them that year but they don't always happen. And the guys that were doing that for us were two players-one whose name should not be mentioned but also a rather underrated player with us-Mike McKenzie.

Why do you think so? He's managed to sign just about every player the coaching staff has asked for.

Every year we're bouncing the cap yet he continues to acquire free agents the staff wants.

The recent drafts proved to be pretty bad so he fired the scouting department and hired some quality help. Thats what good GM's do.

The only bad thing I can say about Loomis is that he's over-paid several veterans, probably out of loyalty.

We're one of the winningest teams in the entire NFL over his tenure. Second only to the Pats and Packers.

Man, I feel old. Folks talking this is probably the worst Saints team they've ever seen. Hate to say it, but this is a can of "Saints Suck Lite".

Loomis has made some awful deals that have put us in a bind through next year...that is true. But if you look at our draft history, this 2015 draft was the 1st year since 2006 we've picked more than 8 players in one draft. We drafted 9 players this year.

Loomis & Payton may not be saying it, but this screams "Rebuilding Year". 2006 was supposed to have been a rebuilding year...it just ended up being a magical one as we were playing post-Katrina, Reggie Bush-buzz and a last place schedule.

Embrace the suck. We're rebuilding.

Got absolutely lucky and picked up Brees after the Dolphins passed. Has to play games with the cap every season to squeak in under but has one of the least talented teams in the NFL.
