Yeah, not all of the sacks have been on Strief but in THIS thread, Watt is saying he is garbage. At first, it seems like just trash talk but the guy said the same stuff after the game when interviewed. He was upset because he had to keep sacking Drew and he likes Brees. So this seems to be the appropriate thread to bash on Strief.

No, I understand, I'm all for fans expressing their dissatisfaction with a player, that's why they make the big bucks, IMO. I'm not trying to change anybody's opinion, just presenting a different perspective. It's a great thread/discussion and a good example of what puts this board above the rest, differing points of view presented without people going all Failclowns board, .

Maybe I do tend to defend offensive lineman a bit much, but it's just because it's such a thankless position for being the spot where games are won or lost, IMO. In Strief's case, I take into consideration Brees was/is willing to step up and take some blame for his sacks, observations about how long Drew has been holding the ball, his past performance/PFF grades (), and the fact that JJ Watt will pretty much do that to any O/L he faces, #shrug. His (Watt) trash talk is pretty passive aggressive and meant to demotivate his competition, IDK why he continued it into the postgame and how much tackling Drew really bothers him, but it's all part of insulting an opponent without actually antagonizing them enough to get fined, et ..., IMO.

It is what it is, bash away, this ain't no Pony League football, . I know I'll go after a guy for not playing up to par, .

You couldn't be more right about why this board rocks. Strief has taken grief this season and it hasn't been all his fault. I will even admit I thought the first sack Brees took was on the bull rush through Strief but after watching it again, Brees had got rid of the ball. So maybe Brees was right in saying the RT didn't allow any sacks but he was hit so many time by blowing Strief up, it just looked like he did.

Regardless what the grades say, the eyeballs say that the right side of the line is way long in the tooth and is in need of help. I remember a day when we would game plan for players like Watt. We would send a chipper to make him go inside and then the lineman would squeeze him into the other lineman in the other direction..the good ole days.
