That Brees could possibly be a bear if payton leaves and everyone got all crazy over it saying stuff like Brees will be 37 and that Cutler gives them a better chance to win because he's younger and playing better of late. I mean people here said earlier in the year Brees would be wanted by 90 percent of other teams. Well, is he really?

So the Bears are part of the 10% that don't.

, "Cutler gives you a better chance to win" ...that's certainly something you don't hear everyday,. Silly Bear fans. Maybe it's not 90%, but plenty of teams would welcome Drew, #shrug.

The 'fans' that are so damn ready to trade Brees while he still has value need to think about the other QBs that the Saints have had

The Saints have only had two great QBs in their history: Archie Manning and Drew Brees.

True fans of this team know what happens when you have a great QB and not much else; it isn't pretty.

Have to disagree with this. The following make sense:

One great QB: Brees because he won the SB
Two highest revered QBs: Brees and Manning

But as much as folks around a lot of Saints Fan circles do not want to hear it, any list of Great Saints QBs that has Manning on it has to include Aaron Brooks.

Until Brees came along Brooks held virtually every Saints passing record. He was the QB of the first playoff game the Saints won. He only had 2 losing seasons in his tenure of 5+ seasons.

Yes he made boneheaded plays but he was a part of some brilliant ones too.

On the field there is just no way to justify putting Manning above Brooks in Saints lore.

If the coach leaves, what is he supposed to do, go down with the sinking ship. Before Sean came, we were nothing like the browns under Haslett. We were a a 8-8, 9-7 team for three years straight. In fact in four of our first five years under Haslett we were a .500 or better team. The year Katrina hit, we lost a lot of close games-Atl, StL, Chi, NE, TB-twice, Det. We could have had another .500 season if not for Katrina. It's not the end if Brees leaves, it's the start of a new era. Look at KC, they picked theirselves u after Montana and Green each. And when Brees became a saint the team that saints suceeded as a top offense was kc. KC made one mistake with Herm, then Haley got shafted in a injury riddled season where the team finished 7-9, putting Romeo in a rough situation. The browns are the browns because they have ignored investing RBs and WRs. And when two did not work out, or one, well they did not try to get a new one. St.Louis's offense sucks because they have no elite receivers. Are we likely to ignore talent under a new coach? No. But the team without Sean will be set back and Brees has to go where he can contend right away.

Keeping Brees without Sean and expecting him to be treated like a college kid is not going to work also. He is not CK or Smith who needed teaching under Harbaugh. Better off getting a rookie who will play like that. And getting Harbaugh will be like admitting we were screwed when he was coaching SF.

Brooks had the POTENTIAL to be a great Saints QB.

Brooks broke SAINTS passing records; Brees broke NFL passing records.

Brooks wouldn't have lasted a quarter if he had to play when Archie did.

79.7 overall with the Saints. Best of 88.8 in 2003.

I took great care not to say that Brooks was the second best Saints QB. This piece from last year makes very valid arguments against that.

The Myth of Aaron Brooks - Canal Street Chronicles

All of which I pretty much agree with. The point of the article is that there is Brees, and then there's everyone else, take your pick. There simply isn't enough statistical evidence that Manning was significantly better than Brooks, Hebert, or Everette. So I just cannot see putting Brees and Manning in one box, and the others in another.

The simple end to the discussion is that Brees stands alone and really no one else compares in Saints history.

Which getting back to the original point, keep paying the man until he proves he no longer a top 10 QB in this league.

Bears fans are big mouth infant @sses with no regard for peoples feelings or reality. Really dont care what those idiots think. Never forgave them for the signs and comments at the 2006 playoff game where they iced the field on purpose over night.
