Give me Andrew Billings

Andrew Billings*, DT, Baylor
Height: 6-2. Weight: 310.
Projected 40 Time: 5.14.
Projected Round (2016): 1-2.
1/16/16: In 2015, Billings totaled 39 tackles, 14 for a loss and 5.5 sacks. He is a rare interior defensive lineman with a special combination of massive power at the point of attack and a burst to get after the quarterback. Many big tackles like Billings are stationary, but he has displayed the speed to close and make tackles outside of his gap. Prior to an ankle injury this season, Billings was dominating. After a few games of being held back by the ankle, he returned to his previous form and finished the year playing well.

8/22/15: Billings has a lot of athletic potential and could produce more as an upperclassman. As a sophomore, he totaled 37 tackles with 11.5 tackles for a loss, two sacks and one forced fumble. With Shawn Oakman next to him, Billings could see some one-on-one opportunities in 2015.

Hell why we're at it; let's get Billings and Oakman back together:

Shawn Oakman, DE, Baylor
Height: 6-9. Weight: 275.
Projected 40 Time: 4.84.
Projected Round (2016): 3-5.
1/16/16: In 2015, Oakman totaled 43 tackles, 14.5 for a loss, 4.5 sacks and two forced fumbles. He was suspended for the season opener because of a team-rules violation. NFL teams already had off-the-field concerns with Oakman that the suspension will only add to. His play has been somewhat disappointing considering the number of pass-rushing opportunities he saw against weak opponents.

8/22/15: Oakman notched 48 tackles with 18.5 tackles for a loss, 10 sacks, three passes batted and three forced fumbles in 2014. In the early going of the season, he was one of the more impressive players in college football. Oakman cooled down as the season progressed. He lacks instincts and technique, so he needs development. In some ways, Oakman is similar athlete and prospect to Cincinnati Bengals defensive end Margus Hunt, a second-round pick in 2013.

Oakman is strong and quick, but doesn't play consistently up to his skill set. He looks like a great fit as a five-technique defensive end in a 3-4 defense. Oakman also could be a base end in a 4-3 defense. Baylor also lines him up at defensive tackle and as a standup rush linebacker. Oakman just has to get more consistent and play up to his physical skills. In 2013, he totaled 33 tackles, two sacks and two forced fumbles. Oakman spent 2011 with a redshirt at Penn State. He then sat out the 2012 season after transferring.

Andrew Billings and Tyeler Davison would make an awesome 1-2 punch at that 1-technique spot on the D-Line. However, we'd still be missing a 3-technique.

Edit: Nevermind... I realize now that Billings would be best used as a 3-technique. So rotating Jenkins and Davison at the 1 with Billings at the 3 would be awesome!

Oakman looks like Tarzan but plays like Jane. Give me more consistent production from a DT/NT.

I wouldn't play him at tackle; He'd be in a rotation as a defensive end...

Billings/Jenkins would be my tackles if I had my way, with Tyeler Davison and whoever else in rotation

Stick Oakman on the end in definite passing situations and get him to jump when the ball is thrown to his side, I'm sure we would see more batted balls than we do now. He is 6'9" after all
