Doug Atkins, Hall of Famer, original Saint, dies at 85
 

Atkins played professionally from 1953-69 with the Cleveland Browns, Chicago Bears and was an original member of the New Orleans Saints. His 6-foot-8 frame created major matchup problems for opponents.

Had a chance to shake his hand...All the way up to my elbow.
He looked like a giant when I was 9 years old.

I don't know that I'd dub him "an original Saint". He was traded to NO and played only in the 1969 season.
