saintfan, it\'s all good bud. I know I am a sarcastic SOB, mainly when I feel like I am repeating myself or that someone is just trying to get a rise out of me. If that wasn\'t the intent. my bad. No harsh feelings.

FYI, our defense needs to stop the run Whodi, and we don\'t need to blame their CLEAR inability to do that on the offense do we?
I don\'t doubt this, but the offense being 28th in TOP and 25th at converting 3rd downs is not gonna help a D with Howard Green and a 7th round rookie starting on its defense. Agreed?

I don\'t know. I really just don\'t know.........

How much blame do I put on the defense for the defensive problems? 100% !

Our REAL problems on defense had nothing to do with the offense. Unless Joe Horn, Stallworth, Brooks, and Deuce were going to go out there and play linebacker and CB!

Conversly, our problems on offense had nothing to do with our defense. Our offensive line was gonna still suck, no matter what. Deuce would still have been injured. Brooks would have had the same problems, etc., ect,.....

Now, both could have helped each other out. Especially our defense. The defense let the offense down much more than the other way around.

I\'m really not that interested in our offense keeping our defense on the bench. I\'m worried about our defense holding up their end of the bargin. And vice-versa!!

Billy,

I agree with the sentiment, but the performance of one unit definitely affects the performance of the other unit - especially when it comes to W-Ls, don\'t you think?

It is demoralizing when your O doesn\'t get some points or puts you in a tough position. These guys are professionals though, they need to get over that. Of course, when you are asked to stop the opponents\' O from your own 30, you don\'t have as many options or as much chance.

Of course, the same goes when your D doesn\'t get the ball back at a reasonable point on the field or squanders the points you do get.

I guess, I just don\'t see how they don\'t affect each other. I agree though, it is a minor point in terms of our bigger picture woes.

JKool --

Sure, you know I agree with you. But, it\'s quite hard for me to try and distribute the blame out to where it\'s accurate.

The offense definately hurt our chances of winning. We needed to score a LOT of points to win most games. But, I don\'t think it made our defense look much worse than what they actually were. I just think we got more chances to see how pathetic they were.

Same thing for our offense. We couldn\'t run the ball. Brooks had to pass the ball more than any other QB in the league because we couldn\'t run the ball. And Brooks had to pass the ball more than any other QB in the NFL behind a bad offensive line.

The biggest thing that could have helped our offense wasn\'t the defense. It was a running game and better pass blocking.

So, I\'m not sold on this offense making the defense better or the defense making the offense better.

What I am sold on is IF the defense would have played better it would have given us a better chance of winning. And if our offense would have played better it would have given us a better chance of winning.

Offense helps offense.
Defense helps defense.
Offense and defense wins together.

Am I frustrating you, JKool? LOL.

Let me go to the other thread you just started and see if I can work on distributing the blame accordingly. I think we\'re both on the same page as far as our feelings on the subject.

It\'s gonna take me a bit to analyse everything, though. I need some time, damn it...
