What if Browner stays?

See? Sometimes in life, we all make decisions which, at the time we make them, may look like good decisions (like for example, my decision of acknowledging you by replying to your post). And sometimes, we look at all the options, good and bad, and feel making a particular decision is the right thing to do.

Then, time proves us wrong; time tells us "you made a mistake".

Then, what do we do? If we have the power to rectify it, do we continue living with this mistake? Or do we do something about it to correct it, or at least mitigate it somehow?

In the case of the Saints and Galette, for starters, neither you or I, or anyone outside the Saints organization knows what went into the decision of giving Galette the payday he was given: we don't know if the Saints knew about incidents and just gambled, we don't know if they had no idea Galette was a head case or not; we don't know if Galette exhibited issues in the locker room...

However, given how disruptive Galette became in the locker room (which I am willing to bet weighted much more than Galette dishing out leather at the beach), time proved the decision to give Galette his payday was a mistake. So the Saints released him.

As to why I chose the picture of Galette belting women for my post: I was looking for a picture of Galette grinning, but I came across that one, and I thought it was more fun to post that one.

Do you get it now, or do I have to bring out the smaller spoon?

I think if he stays and plays, I think we will be looking at 7-9 or 8-8 again. It's seriously that bad, man. They could keep him for pride to avoid the dead money and have him ride the pine, but with Browner on the field, look....both the refs and the opposing offenses, all have his number and teams have figured out exactly how to systematically move their team down the field and score, when Browner is on that field.... Obviously the memo is out and around, the refs have been told to keep a close eye on him. The coaches know it, the QB's know it, the refs know it, the league front office knows it, and it shows in his stat line and his play. He's toast - really in all reality, the guy is done in the NFL. He's literally a poster boy for all the complaints and grumbling that happened behind the scenes and behind closed doors, about that Seahawks defense that won the championship that year by playing like Browner plays.

#39 is a below average NFL corner back. IMO he stinks.
If he had decent ability the Seahawks would have paid him OR the Patriots would have picked up the tab (2 million) option to keep him.

HUGE mistake to sign and over pay for this guy .. we ended up getting the short end of the stick.

Hopefully Breaux/Keenan can stay healthy & the young bucks ... PJ, Kyle Wilson, Swann, Dixon can step up their game & keep #39 off the field.

Your condescending attempt of an explanation was a waste of both your time and mine. You knew before posting that, that I know exactly what it means to recognize a mistake. So why don't you think of a more mature approach than pretending I'm an idiot.

My point was simple. Your example was poor. A guy acting like a maniac, and having video of such left the Saints with no choice. It wasn't their mistake that he turned out that way.

Do you really think if they knew anything prior to paying him that he was like this, that they would have given him that contract? If they knew before and didn't care, what would have changed suddenly? Nothing. They paid him because he was coming off a 12 sack season. At the time, it made football sense. He had proven something on the field.

We're talking about football decisions in here, or did you forget? When someone does what Galette did, there isn't any decision to make, or mistake to admit. You just get rid of him.

Not nearly the same thing as giving extensions to aging, declining players or paying Will Smith like he was Bruce Smith, or all of the free agents they've swung and missed on.

It absolutely pains me to say this but, Browner isn't going anywhere. Anyone who thinks that he is, is living in the Twilight Zone. I only hope they can keep his carnage to a minimum.

Do anyone recollect one game that would be persuasive enough to give him another chance? I think he is worst than jason David. Jason get burnt but at least he don't give up 1st downs on regular basis for holding penalties. Why his teammates aren't livid at him for all of those unnecessary penalties on 3rd down is baffling. Why he wasn't benched behind Dixon or Wilson is more uncomprehending .

This entire D was bad not just Browner, a SS that can cover and lay wood could have helped on the back end. Browner doesn't have deep speed. He is a bump and run physical type CB that plays better near the line to second level better not deep. A WR with speed on a free release eats up alot of CB not only Browner. I noticed early season he don't flip his hips very quick changing direction, he is better in the box but needs help deep.

Nope, take it a step further.

#39 was one of the the worst players PFF has ever graded this year (maybe the worst). He was the last ranked CB by a huge margin. With the Patriots he was the 79th, ... 79th ranked CB in the league. He had his snaps cut in half by the Pats. He committed 16 penalties. The Pats then failed to pick up his 2 million dollar option to keep him. When he was with the Seahags he just held on every play. The NFL rules have changed and those days of mugging WRs are over.

The guy is on the wrong side of 30. What skills he did have are all but gone.
