Hard to argue with his reasoning!


You see, I was able to dig up that Brees had played 217 career games as opposed to Brady’s 225. And Brees still has better statistics, by a mile.

Brees, who has not had a Hall of Fame wide receiver like Randy Moss (or even perennial-gifted slot receivers like Julian Edelman or Wes Welker,) or Rob Gronkowski, has put up better stats.

He has 60,903 passing yards (fourth all-time,) compared to 58,028 for Brady. Brees and Brady also are tied for third most touchdowns with 428 in a career.

Brees has 5,365 completions compared to Brady’s 4,953. Not bad at all.

They are about even in my book.

I would say the scale might tilt to Brady a bit. Stats don't matter much, winning counts and Brady knows how to win, particularly in the playoffs.

Has Brady ever had the 32nd ranked defense on his team?

Brees has played with it in 2012, 2014 and 2015. No wonder Brady wins in the playoffs, he doesn't have to score every single drive.

I've looked up the stats numerous times as I generally have to argue best QBs on Drews behalf in the past. Most of Drews stats are better which helps in the argument. The only thing that hurts is that both QBs have about the same amount of TDs but Drew has around 50 more INTs.

However, I believe the INT differential is because like dizzle88 said, Drew felt like he had to score every drive to compete. Which caused forced passes.

doesn't hurt that when the Patriots get busted for cheating it doesn't affect them on the field, what the Saints had to deal with set the team back about 3 years

Good point regarding the pressure for Brees to score at every drive.
It reminds me a little of Archie Manning's career what he could have done on a good team.

Football players from Archie's era have said that if he had played on a team like the Steelers he would have won 3-4 Super Bowls.

Individually yes he is a better QB. It's a shame it's a team sport. Belichek is the greatest coach in the game and Brady has always had a better team than anyone else. The same team with Matt Cassell at QB goes 11-5.

If Brady never won a Super Bowl he would never be mentioned in the same sentence as a guy like Manning.

Like the article said, if Brady had to play with the defenses that Brees did he would have finished 5-11 or 6-10.

This why I am not a fan of comparing positions and players because its the team around them... the situations they are in.
