Why? He's the 3rd best O-lineman on our roster.

Ever wonder why Strief graded out so well all season, and Evans graded poorly? Perhaps Strief wasn't as bad as you think, and Jahri was pretty aweful.

Re: Jahri Evans released

Thank You Jahri, I don't understand this.

The Saints relieved three players of their duties before the city New Orleans celebrated Mardi Gras.

Veteran guard Jahri Evans was released by the team on Monday. The six-time Pro Bowler was due $3 million if he was still on the roster on Wednesday. Evans, 32, has been in New Orleans since 2006. He was a four-time first-team All-Pro selection and started 153 games with the Saints. The guard signed a seven-year, $56.7 million contract with New Orleans in 2010.

The Saints also cut linebackers David Hawthorne and Ramon Humber.

Evans joins safety William Moore and wideout Riley Cooper as the most recognizable players to get their walking papers on Monday.

Oh yes he was. He nearly got Brees killed, especially in the Tampa game when his shoulder was injured. We have Strief to thank for that. We very nearly lost Brees, permanently. I don't think he should be cut but I also don't think he should be starting either. I don't care what his grade was, he's just too slow.

Yet no one on our roster could beat him out. How about we keep him until we have someone better? It's an important position.

Peat will beat him out before game 1 if Strief is still around, see you are still holding on to that great ranking from PFF,

come on, I lost count how many times Strief was in the game and Drew either got hurried, hit or sacked the last couple years

Re: Jahri Evans released

What I was getting at is people wanted Streif to stay around to help coach Peat and the younger guys on the oline. That to me left Evans out.

We do have someone better. His name is Andrus Peat. Don't think Strief can count on him being out of shape this time around. Like I said, Strief nearly got Brees killed. He was running for his life and Lord knows, Peat couldn't be any worse.

Evans' best days are clearly behind him. It's time to move on. I wish him nothing but the best.

Look, I used to back Strief up because prior to this season he was good. He was a total frigan disaster this season. Even JJ Watt made fun of him. I think Peat is our starter day one this season. And, just because we didn't start Peat this year, that might have more to do with protecting Peat than Strief being so much better. I give you the Charlie Brown experiment that lasted nearly an entire season before we said the hell with it and threw Armistead in there. Do I think that was because Chuck was dominating or better than Armistead, nope, I think that was to protect Armistead from getting discouraged if he struggled some. If Chuck Brown had not been so much worse than Strief I am not sure SP would have started Armistead at all his Rookie season. I think he was left with no choice.

We started to see Peat more and more as the year wore on.
