The New Orleans Saints appear set to move into the new league year Wednesday with the $30 million cap hit for Drew Brees still on the books, his agent said Tuesday in an interview with Rich Eisen.

Yet the agent, Tom Condon, indicated a deal to reduce that cap number could be discussed in the coming weeks.

"The club had the right to renegotiate for cap purposes during the life of the contract and has done that, which pushed the cap number to $30 million this year," Condon said. "That's where it stands right now. I'm guessing that we'll probably have some conversations with the Saints in the next couple weeks or so."

So I take it we really will not be proactive in this FA at all. By the time he restructures, the pool will be slim.

and yes he will restructure or the Saints maybe looking for a couple of QB's soon. Brees will certainly remember that the Saints gave him a chance no one else would! If not bye bye
