I know where you are going and where this came from, but that\'s a loaded question, and i\'ll explain why. It depends on need. If you are building a team from the ground up, QB is gonna be your first choice normally. you want the best one out there, like in a fantasy draft. but if you already have a QB like that, you aren\'t gonna say you want another one when discussing re-building a team, instead of just building a team. Those are two different scenarios. So if I am BUILDING a team, I am going QB first. If I am RE-BUILDING an existing team, say ours, I am gonna go line, offensive or defensive.

I think you could answer that question in asking yourself....which player in the league right now would you choose to start a franchise. I would pick Peyton Manning, so I suppose QB is where I would start. But it is a case-by-case basis for each team. Personally if I could swap out any one player in the league for one of ours, it would be Peyton Manning for AB, and that\'s the position where we would notice the biggest difference. The next would be Ray Lewis for Courtney Watson.

I don\'t know about ONE player. But I do know defense wins more ball games than offense.

Draw your own conclusions from that.

It won\'t matter what we do for the defense if the offense sputters again this year like they did last year. But that was already another thread argument. :casstet:

So many ways to answer that question -- Starting a new franchise -- it would be between Peyton Manning and Ray Lewis. Which position would I upgrade first on the Saints to improve wins -- Middle linebacker --

actually it wasn\'t as loaded as it sounded.

I really don\'t know. I do beliieve that witha new qb that the saints could be a playoff team..and if I was going to start a team I would go the route the texans went ala QB...

It just seems to me this is the most important position on a team and I wanted to know what everyone else thought.

Is the learning curve lower for defensive players or is the
window of being good players longer for qb\'s and RBs?

Yes you need to look at a teams needs--but lets just say any of the 8-8 teams-what was the biggest problem?

if you were to start a team from scratch where would you look?

and finally-

what is the most important postion in football? is it truly quarterback or elsewhere..i\'ve heard some say center....

The most important position on the team is the QB -- I agree -- but what is the position that the Saints need improvement on the most right now -- middle linebacker -- while I am not a Brooks lover I do think he is not the first priority on improvement.

I love the fact that most every thread leads to QB. STOP ALREADY. We have one. The question is what position we should upgrade first. If anyone saw just one game... its obvious either OL or DL ok I\'ll add the LB psositiion. We need beef on the line. Offense wins games but D wins championships.

I don\'t see a Ray Lewis in this draft so I would go OL.
