If Gerard Warren= a 4th Round Pick...

this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; were you thinking it too? much has been made of the #3 overall from 2001 going for a fourth rounder. i think we have a sadder tale... a #6 overall that was attained for 2 first rounders just two seasons ...

I was thinking, If Warren went for a 4th, Howard HAS TO GET a 2nd or higher. That at least made me smile.

good point whodi, we can use all the hope we can get around here.

howard even for their second round, #35 would please me. that could get a burnett or blackstock maybe. or then, #16+#40= DJ at some other top 6 spot. that is, say miami\'s #2 and then #35 for a second instead of the #16 & #40 now.

No way that could happen straight up. The Browns would want our 1st plus Howard, at the least.

Or maybe our 2nd plus Howard, which would give us two firsts. If we sign two menial positions in free agency, like getting Pierce at LB and Ross at RT, I would be all for making that deal. If we do nothing in free agency, hell no. Here\'s the thing though. If we take DJ at 3 were we to do the deal, AND we still had our #16, teams may wanna move up and we may be able to gain a pick back. OR, we could look at Howard, our 3rd, and a first or 2nd next year for their #3. Gives us two firsts and a second, with the poss of moving back with #16 and recouping this year\'s 3rd we would have lost. Ouch, my brain hurts. This is the Saints we are talking about. :casstet:

Whoa there....that would require too much front office negotiating savvy. I would be impressed at the two first round picks scenario.

There\'s been a lot of talk about the Saints \"putting up a smoke screen\" and not talking about LB. Just remember folks, the last time the Saints \"put up a smoke screen\" it was to ignore LB, CB, and DT in FA so that they could trade TWO first round picks to move up and draft Jonathan Sullivan. Keep that in mind when you start dreaming about who we might sign. Have a great day! LOL
