Hartwell Moves...

today or tomorrow likely his agent says.

from the baltimoresun.com-
Lewis provided a grimmer outlook on the chances of inside linebacker Ed Hartwell returning to the Ravens. Hartwell has made 472 tackles over the past three seasons, a total surpassed by only Ray Lewis (510).
"He loves Baltimore, the fans there, the coaching staff and his teammates. But there's zero chance of him re-signing because it's Ray Lewis' team," said Harold Lewis, indicating Hartwell could sign with another team today or tomorrow.

while on LBs that COULD be had...

The Eagles do want Trotter back, but all indications are that the offer they\'ve put on the table has not satisfied the linebacker or his agent, Jimmy Sexton. The Eagles have tried for two days to get in touch with Sexton, but as of 8 o\'clock last night the agent had not returned their phone calls. Sexton did not return a phone call from The Inquirer yesterday.

A league source said last night that Sexton has informed Trotter that he is probably going to have to go elsewhere if he wants to sign the kind of deal he is looking for. Two league sources have said that the Kansas City Chiefs are prepared to make an offer to Trotter.

What would the Eagles do without Trotter?

It\'s possible they could sign a free-agent linebacker, such as Baltimore\'s Edgerton Hartwell or Washington\'s Antonio Pierce.

In addition to the Chiefs, it\'s possible the Vikings will make a run at Trotter: They have a lot of salary-cap room and need a strong presence in the middle.
----i forgot we have plenty of lb presence one side to the other.

WOW!! Ray Lewis only has 38 more tackles than Hartwell over a 3-year period?!?!

How can we not at least TRY and get this guy?

If we ran a 3-4 I\'d love this guy.

But even with his 4.8/no coverage ability I\'d still be happy with him.

At least he\'d bring attitude with him, and a chip on his shoulder from playing under Lewis\'s shadow for so long.

But since he\'s a better fit for a 3-4, and we run a 4-3, I expect we\'ll sign him tomorow.

i think if it is a do nothing/little free agency and the first two teams on the schedule run for 300 yds, it sounds like your optimistic zeal may take a new direction billy. i\'m not for bashing. it is just that the need of some of these moves look all too obvious to me. crunch time with the cap is really gonna kick in next season and the one after. it is a time to push and push hard now. a hartwell, trotter, or pierce (the best for the buck imo) would make a strong statement as an organization for winning. nothing would help the team in negotiations with the state more than that either. 32-32 with the last ranked D in the league and maintaining the status quo will have opposite results.
