Utah State LB Nick Vigil to visit Saints

The Saints will host Utah State linebacker Nick Vigil for a predraft visit later this month, according to a source.

As a junior, Vigil recorded 144 tackles, including 13.5 for a loss, and three sacks.

The 6-foot-2, 239-pounder was also among the most athletic linebackers at the combine. His times in the three-cone drill (6.73 second) and 20-yard shuttle (4 seconds) ranked among the best times at any position.

Vigil played in the middle at Utah State but might be more of an outside linebacker in the NFL.

Nick Vigil is an interesting kid. media hype has died down a bit so that is a good thing. Not sure I would spend a 3rd on him. I am trying to wrap my head around even a fourth.

Here is a good scouting on the kid

Draft him at #12 just because of that double tackle against Air Force. Wow. He sure seems like he has a motor.

He's definitely worth a fourth, though most scouting services have him as a fifth rounder...

But because of need and his rate skill set, I wouldn't be surprised if he's taken late third with a compensatory selection...

He'd be a great acquisition to tutelage behind Laurinaitis for a season and add another ten~fifteen pounds of lean muscle...

I'd really like this selection...

In fact, if the value isn't there in the second round, I wouldn't mind trading a second rounder back for a third and fourth round pick in this draft...

I think his stock is going to rise. He's underrated. I wouldn't doubt if he goes in the late 3rd or early 4th.

Keep 'em coming. Know who the people are and what they stand for before you draft them.

Don't let Payton interview him though. Keep him out of the room and let Ireland do his thing.

He did very well last year after we met with him and then hired him during the Senior Bowl. Apparently he has a great eye for defensive talent.

Based on what this team has already signed and have on the roster is the only reason I am having a hard time with the pick in the fourth.

On the board in the fifth? it would be hard to not to imagine him as the BPA on the board.
